Placing
The piglet blower is to be placed in the farrowing pen at approximately 35 cm distance from the farrowing crate, with the
ventilation opening in the direction of the sow.
Note: it is important that the piglets are still able to walk behind the piglet blower.
This piglet blower can be used in any farrowing pen and is fitted with a 220 volt motor (also available in 110 volt). The
piglet blower is activated as soon as it is plugged in to the socket.
When the sow stands up a photo-electric cell immediately activates the fan. The fan gives a constant strong airflow under
the sow, which drives the piglets away from underneath the sow. This prevents the piglets from being crushed by the sow.
The piglet blower stops automatically as soon as the sow lies down.
Maintenance
Water should not be allowed to enter the piglet blower while the pen is being cleaned with a high pressure hose as this
will cause damage to the motor. It is best to clean the piglet blower with a moist cloth.
Problems
Problems with the piglet blower are rare but if a problem does arise we would advise you to contact your dealer's service
department.
The following problems can occur:
The fan does not rotate, but the bulb of the photo-cell remains intact.
Cause:
The photo-cell relay is broken. This can easily be checked by connecting contact 4 and 5 of the photo-cell to each
other. If the fan rotates this means that the relay is broken. If the motor still does not work then there is a problem in
the fan.
The fan does not rotate and the bulb of the photo-cell does not illuminate.
Cause:
The photo-cell is probably defective.
The fan keeps rotating.
Cause:
The relay is malfunctioning.
