Collection system
The collection system consists of a slit suction cap
(12) made of wear resistant material, with a twist-joint
(13) between the suction cap and the suction hose
(14). Thanks to the twist-joint, the suction cap can al-
ways be made to seal against the rock, regardless of
the slope of the rock surface.
Filter unit
The frame of the filter unit consists of two sections.
The upper section houses the filtration chamber,
while the lower section consists of the cyclonic
coarse-separator (9), which is protected internally by
the rubber lining (11). Larger particles are separated
in the cyclone, while smaller particles are trapped by
the filters.
Disassembly of the filter unit
*
Loosen the eccentric lock at the cover (2) and re-
move the cover along with the ejector.
*
Remove the springs (3) with the aid of a screw-
driver or similar implement.
*
Loosen the eccentric lock at the cyclone (9).
*
Pull out the filters, which are fastened to the
cyclone by means of hose clamps. In the upper
section, the outer- and inner filters are fastened
to the filter holder by means of a hose clamp.
Assembly is carried out in reverse order. Make sure
that the filters are moderately but sufficiently
stretched, and that they are not twisted.
Operation
Hose connection
Connect the compressed-air hose to the claw cou-
pling on the cover.
Connect the suction hose between the filter-unit and
the twist-joint in the collection system.
Starting
Open the ball valve on the cover (turn the knob so that
it is "in line" with the air flow).
Sack replacement
When the sack has been filled with 30-40 kg of drill
cuttings, it must be changed. First switch off the drive
ejector by turning the ball valve "across" the air flow
(i.e. at right angles to the air flow).
Filter cleaning
Switch off the drive ejector and shake or jolt the dust
collector lightly. (If necessary, bang the filter unit with
the flat of your hand.) Since the filters are suspended
on springs, this will cause vibrations which clean the
filters.
Moving the dust collector
For shorter distances, the filter unit is carried verti-
cally. For longer distances, remove the suction hose
from the filter unit and carry the unit horizontally. Use
the stand as a handle.

Care instructions

Periodic maintenance
Every shift:
Check the suction cap and remove any accumula-
tions of dirt. Check that there is no filter leakage (i.e.
dust leakage through the ejector).
Weekly:
Check that there is no leakage in connections, joints,
gaskets and hoses.
Monthly:
Disassemble the filter unit. Check the filters with re-
gard to clogging and/or damage.
Check the rubber lining in the cyclone.
Drilling in water-bearing rock
Small amounts of water (less than 5 litres per drillme-
tre) will be separated by the coarse separator, and it
is therefore not necessary for any special precau-
tions to be taken. It may, however, be necessary to
change the sacks more frequently in order to prevent
water from rising too high in the filter unit. When
larger amounts of water are encountered, the dust
collector must be switched off. If this is not done,
there is a danger that the filter unit will be filled with
water. If water is encountered in the drill hole when
the ambient temperature is below 0°C, the dust col-
lector must be switched off immediately. The suction
cap must also be removed from the drill steel to pre-
vent water from entering the hose and freezing to
form ice plugs.
Drilling at temperatures below 0°C
When drilling in temperatures below 0°C, the com-
pressed air line must be equipped with a water sepa-
rator. If this is not done, there is a risk of the drive ejec-
tor freezing up, with reduced suction capacity as a re-
sult. In extremely cold operating conditions, it may be
necessary to connect an alcohol dispenser to the
compressed air line.
