C A U T I O N S

To avoid damaging your programmer, please ensure pins are connected to the correct side.

Do not place the PIC-600 over metallic surfaces.
•
Do not place metallic objects over the programmer.
I N S T A L L A T I O N
Important only for Windows 8, perform the following procedure before you start the installation,
remember to save and close all your programs before doing so:
- Press Win+I ( Windows key and I simultaneously) and select "Change PC settings" at the bottom
right of your screen.
- Select "General use" and lower right menu to "Advanced Start" and select "Restart now".
- Your PC will reboot with a menu, select the option "Troubleshoot".
- Select "Advanced options", "Boot configuration" and "Restart".
- Your PC will reboot with a menu, select 7 or F7, "7) disable the "mandatory use of signed drivers".
Your PC will restart and you can continue with the installation process.
The function "Disable the mandatory use of signed drivers" will disappear automatically when
you restart your PC.
Software installation:
IMPORTANT: Consider that you must have administrator rights on your computer to install
and run this program.
Insert the installation disk provided with the PIC-600 in the CD drive of your computer, or download
the files in www.steren.com.
Run Setup depending on your case: Install PIC-600 Windows 98_ME_2K_XP or Install PIC-600
Windows Vista_7_8 and follow the instructions that will appear on screen.
- If the message "Do you want to allow this program from an unknown publisher to make changes
on the computer?" or "Do want to run this file" appears select "Yes" or "Run".
Driver installation:
Make sure that there is no PIC attached to the controller during the connection or
disconnection.
- Connect the PIC-600 to your computer.
- The 'new hardware wizard' will run.
- Select "not for the moment" and press "Next".
- Select "Search driver software on the PC" or "Install from a list or specific location" and press
"Next".
- Select "Browse" and find the folder "C:\ Archivos files (x 86) \Steren PIC-600\driver" and select the
appropriate folder "driver_98_Me_2k_Xp" or "driver_vista_7_8".
- If see you a warning about Windows logo message, press 'Continue'.
- If "Windows cannot verify the Publisher of this software" appears, select "Install this software
anyway".
- Press "Finish" to finalize the process.

H O W T O U S E
After installed your PIC-600 it is recommended that you first connect it before opening the
PIC-600 program, in case of failure to do so you need to detect the PIC-600 by pressing "DETECT
PROGRAMMER" once connected.
On Windows 7 and later is necessary to run PIC-600 as administrator, so to run it is necessary
to select from the menu which appears when you press the right button of the mouse "Run as
Administrator".
Once executed the program and recognized the programmer the following options must appear
within the "Basics" tab:
Identify PIC in programmer
This option identify the placed PIC on the base or connected to ICSP port. First, make sure to select
the pins in the IC-Socket / ICSP box dialog, and the family in PIC Family box dialog.
Consider that for family 12Fxxx select 16Fxxx in the "pic family" menu.
Select HEX-File as source
Open the file to be loaded into the PIC, it must have the .HEX format.
Remove CP
Remove the code protection in some cases, it depends if the code protection was installed in the
program or while programming.
Erase PIC
Deletes the program or code in the connected PIC.
Blank check
Check if the PIC's memory is empty
Write HEX-File into PIC
Writes the program previously loaded with the Select HEX-File as source option, into the connected
PIC.
Compare PIC with HEX-File
Compares the content of the memory with the previously loaded program.
Read from PIC into new HEX-File
Reads the Pic's memory and save into a new .HEX file, you must enter a name and location for
the file.
Target: Run
Use this option to switch the PIC to run mode after programming it into the ICSP port. Be careful to
insulate the ICSP port from the rest of the circuit where the PIC is installed.

unauthorized personnel, improper safe keeping, among others.

b) If you lose the warranty card, we can reissue it, if you show the invoice or purchase ticket.
