Allen key (size 6). The now free union nut fits onto every refillable storage cylinder.
Operating pressure
The pressure in the storage cylinder is adjusted downwards by the pressure regulator to an easily manageable pressure,
known as the "operating pressure". The right-hand gauge (d) of the pressure regulator indicates this operating pressure.
In the JBL pressure regulator fittings u001 and m001 it is pre-set at about 1.5 bar. This is the optimum pressure for the
CO
fertilization of aquariums. If required, however, the operating pressure can be adjusted using the setting screw (g).
2
When the operating pressure is adjusted it is important that CO
is released i.e. the adjustment screw (f) should not be
2
closed as this would prevent adjustment of the pressure.
Changing cylinders
If the cylinder pressure (c) falls below 30 bar, the cylinder will need to be refilled (refillable cylinders) or changed
(disposable cylinders) in the next 2 – 3 days.
Disposable storage cylinders:
Disconnect the CO
hose from the pressure regulator and briskly unscrew the pressure regulator anti-clockwise from the
2
cylinder fitting. This creates an initial hissing noise. Unscrew briskly until the fitting is detached from the cylinder. Dispose
of the empty cylinder according to the local regulations for waste disposal. Connect a new cylinder as described for u001.
Refillable storage cylinders:
Close the cylinder valve and disconnect the CO
hose from the pressure regulator. Open the adjusting screw (f) and
2
release any pressure remaining in the pressure regulator until both gauges show 0. Disconnect the connecting nut (a) of
the pressure regulator fitting from the cylinder valve. Have the refillable cylinder refilled.
If no full refillable storage cylinders are available at the moment, a disposable cylinder can be used. Connect the filled
refillable cylinder or the disposable cylinder as described in Installation.
