1. General Features
Model GE-230: ISO 1/3 Oct. – 30 Bands – Stereo- 3 U
Standard Rack 19"-
- Constant Q high precision filters, with high quality
and low noise operational IC's.
- Relay-delayed switch on to protect the installation
from transitories produced at the power up. Soft Start function
with gradual increment of the audio signal volume.
- Inputs and outputs in bridge configuration allow the
audio signal to pass through the EQ when it is not powered
up.
- Front switchable high pass filter (HPF-20 Hz).
- Switch to select between adjusted EQ response (EQ
on) and flat response (EQ Off).
- Gain control for each channel (-12 dB to + 6dB), with
41-click rotary potentiometer.
- Balanced inputs and outputs (XLR-3, pin 2+) through
high rejection IC's, specifically designed for this application.
- Input and output level indicators: -12 dB, 0 dB, +6
dB.
- EQ bands adjust range selector (+/- 6 or +/- 12 dB).
2. Applications
The GE230 is specifically recommended for precise control of
frequency bands that need to be processed in order to opti-
mize the response of any audio system, as well as its perfor-
mance in general (i.e. can be used in P.A. as general equali-
zer or in stage monitoring systems to control feed-back of the
microphones).
It can be also applied to correct acoustical deviations due to
undesired reflections of rooms with bad acoustic conditions
(reverberation between plain walls or "notch points" caused
by excess of absorption materials such as carpets, furniture
or acoustical-thermal isolation).
In recording studios or broadcasting is useful to independently
process musical instruments and voices, accurately modifying
its response. Also can be used to correct defects or emphasi-
ze effects in imperfect recordings.
Practical Advice:"Always better to substract rather than to
add". When a correction needs to be made, try first to do it
by substracting (attenuating) what you consider superfluous,

- High precision band controls thanks to 45mm travel

allows adjusting the maximum output level of the EQ, and the-
refore the maximum SPL of the whole system to make it com-
ply with the local legislation. The limiter indicator shows if the
maximum level is reached.
