2.
Remove Excess Caulk- Remove excess caulk from the frame rails in the hitch installation area.
3.
Lower exhaust - Lower the exhaust by removing (2) bolts from each rear exhaust hanger bracket (1 per side) with a 13mm socket. Be sure exhaust is supported to avoid damage.
4.
Install hardware - Using the fish wire install items 1 and 2 as shown in figure 1 through the access hole in the vehicle frame. Repeat for both sides. Note: Keep the hardware inside the
frame until hitch is in position, keep fish wire attached to the hardware. See fig. 4 for example.
5.
Install hitch: Raise the hitch into position over the exhaust and forward enough so that the receiver clears the bottom edge of fascia. Align the holes in the hitch with the holes in the
vehicle frame and pull bolts that were installed earlier through the attachment holes. Install conical washers (teeth side toward hitch) and nuts onto the bolts.
6.
Tighten all 7/16" fasteners with torque wrench to 50 Ft. Lb. (68 N*M)
Proper torque is needed to keep the hitch secure to the vehicle when towing.
7.
Reinstall the rubber hangers and exhaust muffler.
Note: check hitch frequently, making sure all fasteners and ball are properly tightened. If hitch is removed, plug all holes in trunk pan or other body panels to prevent entry of water and exhaust fumes. A hitch or ball which has been damaged
should be removed and replaced. Observe safety precautions when working beneath a vehicle and wear eye protection. Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch. This product complies with safety specifications and requirements for
connecting devices and towing systems of the state of New York, V.E.S.C. Regulation V-5 and SAE J684.
