Manual Draw-Off Interceptors - OI, OI-400,
OI-K, WO-300 Series
Function
Watts OI, OI-400, OI-K, and WO-300 Series hydro-mechanical oil interceptors are
designed for installation in vehicle service and run-off areas. Manual oil interceptors
are not designed to store oil; a provision must be made to remove separated oil.
Sizing
OI, OI-400, OI-K, and WO-300 Series interceptors are sized by flow rate. For
indoor areas, the flow rate is calculated by adding the flows from potential water
sources, usually wall hydrants or interior hose bibs. For outdoor areas exposed to
rainfall, flow rates should be calculated from the square footage of the area served,
and local rainfall rates.
Placement and Installation
Install oil interceptors in an accessible location, downstream from drains or other
fixtures receiving oily waste. In areas where the wastewater stream contains a sig-
nificant amount of grit or debris, an appropriate sediment/solids interceptor should
be installed prior to the oil interceptor.
OI, OI-400, OI-K, and WO-300 Series interceptors can be installed on the floor or
recessed in a minimum 4" concrete slab. Recessed installations may require an
extension to meet the below grade piping (see Extensions).
To remove separated oil, a gravity draw-off connection is located on the side of the
interceptor. The draw-off connection should be piped to an approved underground
oil storage tank, or serviced manually, if permitted by local code.
