PRINT YOUR DESIGNS
Print your custom designs using a laser printer in black and white.
Your machine will adhere to the toner in the printer ink. For best
results, use smooth, untextured paper or cardstock, a laser printer,
and Xyron Glaminator foils. Failure to use Xyron foils and transfer
carriers may yield inferior results. These factors are essential for
optimal quality foil transfer. Foil transfer quality may vary based on
the quality of these factors.
PREPARE YOUR FOIL
Roll out your foil onto a clean, smooth
surface. Note the foil has streak lines (see
illustration on the right). These streak lines
are completely normal, and will affect the
direction you put the foil in your carrier,
mentioned in the section below. Use
your project to approximate the size foil
you will need, with approximately 1/4"
border around the foiled area for optimal
results. Cut out your foil. A craft knife is
recommended for this step, scissors may wrinkle the foil or leave scratches.
PREPARE YOUR TRANSFER CARRIER
Crease your carrier to it lays as fl at as possible. Open your transfer carrier, and
place your project down, with your printed design facing upwards. Place your foil
on top of your project, metallic side facing upwards. To minimize foil wrinkling,
place your project appropriately sized laminating pouch, ensuring that it is fi rmly
located along the sealed edge. For best results, orient your foil so its streak lines
are perpendicular to the sealed edge of your transfer carrier.
