Location and installation
- Decide on where to install the unit.
IMPORTANT!
In twin installations with two
units at one or more helm stations, the units
must be positioned such that the helmsman
immediately understands which engine
(port/starboard) each unit belongs to.
- Try to keep cable runs as short as possible, to re-
duce the risk of voltage drop and interference.
- All cables must be installed at least 300 mm away
from other cables carrying radio frequencies or
pulsed signals.
- The underlying material must be flat and
sufficiently strong to withstand the weight of the
unit and protect it from heavy vibrations or shocks.
- Check that there is sufficient room behind the
unit for connectors, so that cables need not be run
with sharp bends. Also make sure that there is
sufficient cable to allow the unit to be removed for
service.
- Check that there is sufficient ventilation in the
installation space, especially if the unit is installed
flush. The operating temperature around the back
of the unit (case) must not exceed 60
- Install the unit in a location that is protected from
prolonged, direct exposure to rain and water
splashes.
- As far as possible, protect the display from the
harmful effects of sunlight by making a habit of al-
ways replacing the protective cover when the unit
is not in use. Long periods of direct sunlight may
cause functional faults in the screen due to exces-
sive heat.

NOTE! There are two ways to install the unit, top
installation using a frame (A), or flush installation
(B).
NOTE! The thickness of the installation surface for
flush installation (B) must be between 4-8 mm.
Some installations require the back of the
installation surface to be ground. A flush-mounting
bracket is not included in the kit.
1. A/ B: Use the hole template provided to mark out
Pos. in fig
the unit location. A full-size template is located in
1
the back of this installation instruction.

3
NOTE! The hole dimensions are only nominal and
4
should be cross-checked with actual physical
5
dimensions before cutting out takes place.
-
-
A/ B: Drill and/or cut out the installation area with
the aid of a jigsaw along the inside of the line shown
on the template.
2. A: Place the unit in the cutout and screw it into
position. Tightening torque (4): 4 Nm (2,95 lbf.ft)
B: Install the unit.
4. A/ B: Connect the harness to the back of the unit.
Secure the alarm (5) to the multilink harness using a
tie wrap.
5. A: Place the plastic frame over the unit and press
it into position. When the frame is in the correct
position, a light "click" will be heard from the
integrated plastic clips on the inside of the frame.
