2. Introduction

2.1 Description

The USB SmartMedia Reader/Writer makes it easier to
transfer digital images to the computer by providing a
hot-swappable digital camera and music player storage-
reading device. It's compatible with any USB-equipped
PC or Mac ® . You don't need to purchase a card reader
for each device. The USB SmartMedia Reader/Writer is
plug and play: it receives power through the USB bus, so
no external power adapter is required.
The USB dual-port card reader has two kinds of sockets.
One is a CompactFlash (CF) socket, and the other is a
SmartMedia (SM) socket.
Simply remove the CompactFlash or SmartMedia card
from your camera, insert it into the Reader, and access
the card like a disk drive.
Digital cameras, handheld PCs, and MP3 players might
always use different types of memory cards. The
Reader/Writer allows you to write and erase data from
two of the most popular cards without having to buy
separate readers.
