Outdoor/Indoor
Candelabra Light Control Instructions
This Light Control offers a measure of safety, security and convenience by automatically turning
your lights on at dusk and off at dawn, simply by reacting to natural daylight and darkness.
OUTDOOR USE (with raintight fixtures only): Screw candelabra light control into socket until
snug and screw bulb into control. Rotate the photocell opening (by turning the control
counter-clockwise) towards any strong source of natural light and away from any artificial light
sources or reflected light from a wall or other nearby surface. The fixture should not have
frosted glass, which will prevent sufficient light from triggering the photocell sensor. In multiple
bulb fixtures, light from adjacent bulbs can affect performance and cause this control to work
incorrectly or sporadically. See below for additional installation tips and techniques.
INDOOR USE: Screw candelabra light control into socket until snug and screw bulb into
control. Rotate the photocell opening (by turning the control counter-clockwise) towards any
strong source of natural light and away from any artificial light sources or reflected light from a
wall or other nearby surface. The fixture should not have a shade or frosted glass, which will
prevent sufficient light from triggering the photocell sensor. The lamp or fixture should be
within 3 feet from a window to ensure sufficient light reaches the photocell. See below for
additional installation tips and techniques.
INSTALLATION TIPS: This light control is equipped with a spring
loaded plunger, which allows the unit to be rotated up to 360° while
still making contact with the fixture. This allows the photocell sensor
orientation to be adjusted for best performance. For best results,
screw the control into the socket until snug and then unscrew slightly
(counter-clockwise) to adjust photocell orientation. To achieve
optimal performance, face each photocell towards the outside natural
light source and away from obstructions (like walls) that will reflect
light. This is especially helpful in multiple bulb fixtures where the
controls will interact with one another if not properly oriented. In
multiple bulb fixtures, each control should be oriented with the photocell facing away from the
other bulbs and from any reflected light. This may require several adjustments to obtain
optimum performance. It is best to adjust these control after dark to best assess proper
orientation.
NOTE: When the light control switches "ON" at dusk and "OFF" at dawn, the bulb may be
partially bright or flicker for some time during these transition periods. This is normal and will
correct itself as the light level increases or decreases. This light control is for use with
incandescent bulbs only. Use 60 watts or less if bulb is installed pointing up and 40 watts or
less if bulb is installed pointing down (see diagram on package). Do not use with any bug or
insect light bulb. Bug and insect lights create excessive heat. Do not use this control with
another light control or dimmer in the same circuit.
Sunlight Operation - Use incandescent bulbs only
For use in dry or damp locations only
