OFF-SCALE RESPONSE:
The µMaxµm ® will respond to a data request when the spindle is in the off-scale condition. Each
communication mode encodes this condition with a special message format.
BCD:
All BCD digit fields will be set to 'F'. The sign, decimal point and unit fields are encoded
normally.
ASCII: All ASCII numerical fields are set to an ASCII space. The sign, decimal point and unit fields are
encoded normally.
REMOTE POWER ON:
The µMaxµm ® will auto power-off if there is 15 minutes of inactivity (no spindle movement, no key press
activity and no data requests). The µMaxµm ® will power-up by pressing the ZERO/ON button or by
activating the SREQ\ at the data output connector. It will respond and send a message as it normally does
when power is on. This facility allows data collectors to auto power down the µMaxµm ® by terminating
data requests and auto power-up by activating data request.
ELECTRICAL CHARACTERISTICS
There are two types of hardware data communications signals associated with the µMaxµm ® , one is the input type
and the other is the output type. To establish a logic level with the input type, be it logic high or logic low the
external circuitry must be an open drain or an open collector type of driver. Internally the input type is at logic high
via a pull up resistor to Vcc. To establish an output logic level with the output type, the external circuitry must
provide a pull up resistor to external equipment Vcc.
