Before you proceed to use the ladder, read the whole manual and keep it for future reference. Handing over the ladder,
hand over the manual as well.

BEFORE USE

Make sure you are in good enough condition to use the ladder, since certain medical conditions, medicine, alcohol or drug abuse
will imply a danger while using the ladder.
During transport of the ladder on luggage rack beams or in a truck, make sure it is placed correctly so that it is not damaged.
After delivery and before the fi rst use, it is required to check the ladder, in order to make sure all elements are in good conditions
and useful.
At the beginning of every working day when the ladder is to be used, it is required to make sure the ladder is not damaged and
it may be used safely.
Before each use of the ladder, make sure that all the steps locks have worked properly. It is forbiddent to use a ladder without the
locking mechanisms working correctly.
In case of professional use, it is required to inspect the ladder regularly.
Make sure the ladder is appropriate for the job.
Do not use a damaged ladder.
Remove any contamination from the ladder, for example fresh paint, mud, oil or snow.
Before using the ladder for work, it is required to ascertain the risk, taking into account the regulations binding in the given
country.
PLACING AND LIFTING THE LADDER
The ladder should be lifted at a correct position, for example at a correct angle for an inclined adder (inclination angle of approxi-
mately 1:4) with the steps or spokes in the horizontal position and for a complete opening of the ladder.
Before entering the ladder, you should spread and lock all of the steps of the ladder.
The ladder should be placed on an even, horizontal and stable surface.
Inclining the ladder place it on a fl at and unbreakable surface and protect it from being used, for example binding it or using ap-
propriate stabilising devices.
The ladder must never be placed from the top.
Placing the ladder, take into account the risk of collision with the ladder, for example for pedestrians, vehicles or doors. If possible,
secure the doors (apart from fi re exits) and windows at the place of work.
It is required to determine all the electric risks at the place of work, as for example overhead lines or other uncovered electrical
equipment.
The ladder should be placed on their feet spokes.
The ladder must not be placed on slippery surfaces (e.g. on ice, shiny surfaces or very dirty surfaces), unless additional measures
have been taken to prevent sliding of ladder, or one has the certainty the contaminated surface is suffi ciently clean.
USING THE LADDER
Do not exceed the total maximum load for the type of ladder.
Do not reach anything; the user must keep the clamp of his belt (the navel) inside the stiles of the ladder and both feet should be
placed on the same step / spoke during work on the ladder.
Do not pass from an inclined ladder to a higher level without additional protection, e.g. without binding the ladder or using ap-
propriate stabilising device.
Do not use a standing ladder to reach the following level.
Do not climb on the last meter from the top of the ladder.
The ladders should be used only for light tasks within short period of time.
In case it is impossible to avoid work on live equipment, it is required to use a non-conductive ladder.
Do not use the ladder outside in unfavourable atmospheric circumstances, such as strong wind.
Take measures to prevent children from playing on the ladder.
If possible, it is required to protect doors (except for fi re-exit doors) and windows within the area of work.
While climbing or descending from the ladder, it is required to face forward.
While climbing or descending from the ladder, it is required to have a sure grip of the ladder.
Do not use the ladder as a bridge.
Wear appropriate shoes, while climbing or descending from the ladder.
Avoid excessive lateral load, caused for example by drilling bricks or concrete.
Do not remain on the ladder for a long time without regular breaks (tiredness is a risk).
Inclined ladders used to reach a higher level must extend at least 1 meter above the point of support.
Equipment handled during work on the ladder must be light and easy to handle.
It is required to avoid tasks which imply lateral load on the ladder, such as drilling hard materials (e.g. bricks or concrete).
Hold the ladder during work or take additional safety measures, if it is not possible to hold the ladder.
