FUNCTION
When power supply is switched on, the LED (4) starts flash
alternating Green/Red and the relay is energized. After five
minutes the LED (4) changes to stabile Green light which
indicates normal operation.
Alarm function and indications
The RM-HFC is equipped with adaptive alarm time delay to filter
out faulty indications and minimize nuisance alarms.
If the gas concentration exceeds set alarm level for:
- (B-level) >2 seconds <30 minutes; the LED (4) will flash Red (2
Hz), the buzzer (3) is silent and the relay remains in normal
operation.
- (B-level) >30 minutes; the LED (4) will flash alternating
Red/Orange, the buzzer (3) (if not disabled) will sound a
pulsating tone (2 Hz) and the relay will switch to Alarm.
- (A-level) >30 seconds, the LED (4) will flash alternating
Red/Orange, the buzzer (3) (if not disabled) will sound a
pulsating tone (4 Hz) and the relay will switch to Alarm.
Disabling the buzzer
The buzzer is disabled by removing the jumper (2).
Reset after Alarm
The RM-HFC will, with a 60 second delay, automatically reset to
Normal operation after the leaking gas has disappeared.
Sensor Error
Gas sensor (1) malfunction will be indicated, with a 180 seconds
delay, by LED (4) flashing Red and Orange (1 Hz) and the
buzzer (3) will sound once every minute.
Required action: - The sensor (1) needs to be replaced.
Annual functionality and sensitivity test
The gas sensor (1) can be tested by distributing a test gas, with
a concentration exceeding the C-level setting e.g. 750 ppm.
If the gas concentration is higher than C-level, but less than B-
level for >2 seconds, the LED (4) will flash Green (2Hz), the
buzzer (3) remain quiet and the relay remain in Normal
operation.
This function allows a simple test function to be performed by
maintenance staff. If the unit fails the test and indicates as
above, the sensor (1) must be replaced.
Gas sensors are available as spare parts and can be easily
replaced. No special tools required.
After replacing the sensor the unit must be re-calibrated. An
instruction for re-calibration is delivered with the replacement
sensor.
The gas sensors (1) are very durable but exposure to the
intended environment requires it to be replaced at least every 5
years or when failing the annual functionality and sensitivity test.

POSITIONING
Installation positioning of the detector is critical for its
functionality. Since HFC / HCFC is heavier than air, the detector
should be mounted 15-20cm above floor level. (see above)
The detector controls the air in its proximity, so the detector
should be placed as close as possible to the potential leak,
taking into account the ventilation and air movements in the
area. The rule of thumb is that a gas detector covers
approximately 50 m

PLEASE NOTE
The sensor in RM-HFC has limited selectivity for
different types of gas. If the detector is placed in the
environment in which other gases or fumes may be
present, these compounds might generate false
alarms.
Examples of substances that can cause false
alarms are petrol fumes, solvents, cleaning agents,
cigarette smoke, etc.
