Welcome to the NRS family of boat owners. We take great pride in building high-performance
inflatables that provide many years of enjoyment. Give us a call at 800.635.5202, or drop us a
line at service@nrs.com if we can help in any way. We love talking about boats!
Your NRS PackRaft is an excellent addition to your outdoor adventure gear. Whether you're
backpacking into high mountain lakes, crossing rivers or paddling on a local pond, your
PackRaft is a durable, affordable way to get out on the water.

INFLATION

Inflating your PackRaft is quick and easy. It has two main-tube inflation chambers for added safety, an
inflatable seat and inflatable floor insert. In keeping with its light weight and packability, it's designed to be
inflated without a heavy pump. It can be filled entirely with your breath; however, using the NRS PackRaft Fill
Bag (available from NRS or your local dealer) takes a lot of the effort out of the job. It only weighs 6 oz., so it's
an excellent take-along inflation aid.
Insert the Fill Bag's outlet hose in the boat's large fill valve, open the top of the bag wide, and then quickly fold
the opening to trap the maximum volume of air. Simply press on the bag to transfer its air to the boat tube. It
takes only 4 to 5 bagfuls to bring a tube up to full shape. Close the large fill valve, then open the twist valve
and give 3 to 4 strong breaths to bring the tube up to full operating pressure.
Now add a few breaths of air into the seat pad to bring it to the desired pressure. If you're using the floor
insert, slide it into the boat and inflate by mouth.
Monitoring Inflation Pressures:
As temperatures and altitude change, the air pressure inside your boat will also change. You may need to
make adjustments to the pressure in the chambers throughout the day. Transporting an inflated boat on a
hot day or when gaining altitude can lead to overinflation; check the pressure regularly. Cold air and water
temperatures will cause a reduction in air pressure. Later in the day, as the air temperature outside warms up,
the pressure inside the boat will increase. As this happens, you'll need to release a small amount of air from
each chamber. Check the air pressure regularly throughout the day and adjust accordingly.
An overinflated boat is in danger of explosive decompression (blowing apart at the seams!). The NRS
warranty (see page 10) does not cover damage caused by explosive decompression.

VALVES

Large Main-Tube Inflate/Deflate Valves:
These are modified Boston-type valves. Turn the cap counterclockwise to open. Air pressure in the chamber
will press the valve's internal flap outward to help prevent air from escaping during inflation. To deflate, open
the cap and press the flap down.
Twist Valves:
Open these valves by twisting counterclockwise. Blow air in and use your tongue to help prevent air from
escaping while drawing in another breath or closing the valve. To deflate, simply open the valve and press air
out of the chamber.
