7 - USE
DURAHOIST 3POD MAXIMAL OPERATING DIMENSIONS
7.1 - GENERAL INFORMATION
A - DURAHOIST 3POD:
• For the safety of users it is mandatory to operate at least in a pair and to keep
communication between operators on the ground and operators in confined
spaces.
• Before any installation and use a risk assessment must be done in order to
identify if the anchor device is fitting to the work purpose or there is any risk due
to environment conditions. It is necessary to take any action to ensure safety on
the workplace.
• It is also necessary to have clear rescue plan before usage.
• Before first use be sure to have received mandatory training for using DuraHoist
3Pod and all connected devices.
• When in use, protect your PPE against any risk related to the working
environment: thermal, electrical, mechanical, chemical, edges, etc. When in
use, regularly check the adjustment and fitting of components.
• This device is constructed for connecting maximum 2 users. Each user max.

Temperature limits for Miller DuraHoist 3Pod are from - 30°C to + 60°C.
• Structure strength that is supporting Miller DuraHoist 3Pod must be minimum
10kN/1000kg. If not sure refer to building or construction information.
• Follow only instruction described in this user manual.
• Adjust the leg opening angle according to the manhole and check that the
distance between the edge of manhole and the 3Pod feet is 150mm minimum.
B - ACCESSORIES:
B1 - MILLER MIGHTEVAC
• The Miller MightEvac Self-Retracting Lifeline with Emergency Retrieval Hoist is
a device for securing the operator connected to the DuraHoist 3Pod.In normal
circumstances it is only connected to the user. In case of a fall or any other
accident of the connected user it is equipped with an emergency handle which
can be used to hoist the user to safe ground. Refer to the User Manual of Miller
MightEvac (Fig. 2).
• The emergency rescue function using the Miller MightEvac handle is applicable
only when the user connected to this device falls or has a serious injury limiting
the user from getting to safe ground (Fig. 3)
B2 - DURAHOIST WINCH
Refer to the User Manual of DuraHoist Winch.
The DuraHoist winch can be used to lower and lift equipment, tools and other
types of material. Maximum weight load limit for material handling is 300kg.
A risk assessment and rescue plan must be done before starting work and hazards
connected to the working environment must be taken into consideration when
selecting equipment for a given application. Failure to observe these hazards
could result in serious injury or death. This equipment must be installed and used
by persons who have been trained in its correct application and use.
