1.
The LCD indicates
the Smartfix is in
Fault Finder mode
by displaying the
current in Amps.
If necessary push
the Mode button
to change from
Volt Meter mode
to Fault Finder
mode.
2.
Place the Smartfix on
the fence wire so the
wire lies in the top part
of the Measurement slot and making good contact with
the contact plate.
3.
The Arrow on the LCD will indicate which direction the
current is flowing. The LCD will display the current in
Amps.
4.
Following the direction of the current, take readings
approx. every 50 - 100m or at junction points along your
fence line.
Note: At a junction point,
follow the wire with the
highest current fl ow.
5.
A fault is indicated by a drop
in current flow between two
checkpoints. The fault will be somewhere between the
two checkpoints.
Note: The arrow will still point in the direction of the
current fl ow if greater than 1A.
6.
To narrow down location of the fault, work back along
the fence checking the current flow at shorter intervals.
7.
Correct the fault.
8.
After correcting the fault you should see the current
reading drop and the voltage go up. If not, check for
further faults.
Note: Multi-wire fences connected in parallel will have
similar current flowing in each wire. To get the total
fence current flow, add together the current flow in
each wire.
