of the pump.
- Limit the horizontal length of the suction pipe and avoid all features
that cause losses of head (tappers, bends...).
- No air input is allowed in the suction pipe.
- With rigid pipes, use supports with collars so that the pump does not
bear the weight of the pipes.
- The setting up of a strainer (croos section 1 mm maxi) avoids any
damage of the pump by suction of stones and foreign particles.
- If the pump is in suction : immerse the strainer (at least 200 mm
deep). If necessary ballast the flexible pipe.
- Nominal diameter of the suction/delevery ports (tapped) : G1 (26-34).
- Carrefully seal the pipes with adequate products.
- The mounting of a dry-running protection device avoids any dry-
running of the pump.

5.3 Electrical connections

Connections and checks should be carried out by a qualified
electrician, in compliance with current local standards.
The power supply of the pump must include a circuit having a
residual current difference device (earth fault breaker) acting at no
more than 30 m .
See name plate of the motor for electrical characteristics
(frequency, voltage, nominal current).
Single-phase motor
The single-phase motors have an integrated thermal protection.
If an extension is added to the cord supplied with the motor, it must
comply with the applicable standards :
3 conductors (2 phases + earth).
Means for disconnection must be incorporated in the fixed wiring in
accordance with the wiring rules.
In case of cord damaged, make it replace by a qualified
electrician.
Three-phase motors
The electrical connection must be as shown by the diagram inside
the cover of the terminal box (see Fig. 3). Use an electrical cable
conforming with the standard in force (H07 RNF) :
4 conductors (3 phases + earth).
The motors must be protected by a circuit-breaker set to the current
mentioned on the name plate of the motor. Provide a fuse
disconnecting switch (type aM) to protect the mains supply.
DO NOT FORGET TO CONNECT THE E RTH.
connection error would damage the motor. The power
cable must never touch the pipe or the pump ; make sure
that it is sheltered from any humidity.
6. ST RTING UP
The pump must never be operated dry, even
C UTION !
briefly.
6.1 Filling, degassing
Pump under pressure (see Fig. 2)
- Close the pump discharge valve (3) and open the filling plug (5).
- Gradually open the pump suction valve (2) and fill the pump
completely.
- Close the filling plug only after water flows out and all air has been
eliminated.
Pump in suction (see Fig. 1)
- Make sure that all accessories connected to the pump discharge
are open (taps, valves, spray pistols).
- Open the pump discharge valve (3).
- Open the pump suction valve (2).
- Unscrew the filling plug (5).
- Put a funnel into the port and completely fill the pump.
- Screw the plug all the way back in.
- If the discharge pipe is a hose, hold it upright to a height of about
0,5 metre until the pump is primed (see Fig. 4).
6.2 Check of direction of rotation
Three-phase motor
Switch on the motor by briefly pressing the circuit-breaker and
check that the direction of rotation is the direction indicated by the
arrow on the back of the blower cover. If not, interchange two phase
wires on the motor terminal block or on motor protection relay.
6.3 Operation
The pump must not be operated in a no-flow
C UTION !
condition (discharge valve closed) for more than
5 minutes.
We recommend a minimum flow of 80 l/h (=1.3 l/mn).
Single-phase version
- Start the pump by setting the On/Off switch (12) to " " after
inserting the plug in a power outlet (light comes on).
Three-phase version
- Start the pump by closing the circuit-breaker.
- Check that the current input does not exceed the value indicated
on the motor data plate.
7. SERVICING, M INTEN NCE
No special servicing in operation; always keep the pump and the
motor perfectly clean.
For a prolonged shutdown, if there is no risk of frost, it is best not to
drain the pump.
- If the pump is exposed to frost, it should be drained by removing
plug (6) and plug (5).
- Screw the two plugs back in without tightening.
C UTION !
Remember to fill the pump before using again.
Motors without grease fittings
The bearings are greased for life and so need no lubrication.
Mechanical seal
The mechanical seal needs no servicing in operation. It must never
be allowed to operate dry.
