Instructions for use
• Place or affix the aquarium air pump in such way that it cannot fall into the water and
is above the water level in the aquarium (see graphs 1–3) to prevent reflux. If this is
not possible, use a safety valve in the hose leading from the pump to the aquarium.
• The aquarium air pumps are suitable for continuous operation. Only the membranes
are subject to wear and tear. Membranes must be replaced when the amount of air
pumped into the aquarium visibly declines - use only original replacement parts.
• Maintenance work on the aquarium air pump: Caution! Do not let water run into the
pump when you are removing stones, filters or decoration from the aquarium. Keep
the pump running and remove the hose from the pump. Then continue with removing
the aquarium fauna.
• The performance of the pump depends to a large extent on the through-flow rate of
the air drawn in. As the ambient air is never dirt or dust-free, the filter in the bottom
plate may become soiled after extended use and must be replaced. In this case, only
an original replacement part should be used.
• Decline of air steam: This problem is most often caused by blocked air outlet stones.
Algae and other particles in the aquarium water are sucked into the stones and harm
the membrane. Check the air outlet stones weekly by sucking a small amount of wa-
ter into the stone and blowing the water through the stone subsequently. If the water
cannot be blown out, the stone is blocked.
• The amount of air pumped into the aquarium can be adjusted only by using a hose
clamp.
Safety precautions:
Attention: Follow these safety instructions to prevent accidents and injuries. Special
attention is needed when handling electrical devices for aquariums if accidents from
electric shock are to be avoided.
• Read the manual before installing and using the aquarium pump. Follow all security
instructions closely.
• If the pump falls into the water, it is imperative that you follow these instructions:
do not put your hand into the water! Unplug the pump before removing it from the
water. Unplug the pump immediately if electrical components get wet.
• Check the pump carefully after you have installed it. Do not switch it on if parts of the
pump are wet which normally have no contact with water.
• The pump must not be switched on if the electrical cord or the plug show signs of
damage, if other kinds of damage are visible or malfunctioning occurs.
• To minimize the risk of the pump getting wet, the aquarium should be positioned to
the side of sockets. It is recommended to extend the electrical cord so that it hangs
below the socket (see pgraphs 2/3). This prevents splash water from running along the
cord into the socket. If this should happen, do not touch anything! Remove the fuse to
interrupt the circuit; then check plug and socket for water.
• Special care is needed if the aquarium pump is running near children.
• Always unplug the pump if it is not in use or before you start cleaning the aquarium!
Never pull on the cord, take hold of the plug to unplug it from the socket.
• Never use the pump for any other purpose than the one it was designed for. Using
parts other than the original replacement parts can lead to harm for people and en-
vironment.
• The device must not be installed or stored in areas with temperature below 0 °C.
• Check if the device has been securely fitted before using it.
• Read the labels on the device and act accordingly.
• If the use of an extension cord is necessary, it should fit the requirements of the device
in type and diameter.
• Keep these instructions for later use.
