Note that the initial battery charging may take more than one hour. Disconnect the charging unit from the
mains when not in use.
b. How to Obtain the Best Life
Never allow the drill to come to a complete still before recharging the battery pack. Place the battery pack into
the charging unit as soon as the drill cannot perform the desired task.
Avoid short recharging processes. Make sure the battery pack is fully charged every time.
Avoid loose items like nails and screws to be stored with the battery pack as they can provoke short circuits.
Always unplug the charging unit when not in use and store in a dry place.
Avoid charging and storing the battery pack in temperatures below 0°C and above 40°C.
6. Operation
a. Forward/Reverse Control
The forward/reverse control allows you to change the direction of the tool. Select the forward rotation direction
(screwing) by pressing the direction switch (3) completely to the right. Select the reverse rotation direction
(unscrewing) by pressing the direction switch completely to the left. Place the direction in the middle to lock the
on/off switch (4).
b. On/Off Switch
Press the on/off switch (4) to start the drill. Control the rotation speed by the amount of pressure onto the
switch: the harder you press, the faster the drill will rotate. Use lower speeds for drilling holes with a drill
without a centre punch, drilling in metal, plastics and other harder materials, and any application requiring
higher torque. Higher speeds are more suitable for drilling in wood and softer materials, and polishing.
Release the switch to stop the drill completely.
c. Torque Adjustment
Rotate the torque adjustment collar (2) and align with the arrow to select the most suitable torque setting when
using the PRD18V3 as a driver. Torque setting is very important as it can prevent over-tightening and damage
to the screw head. The higher the setting (15 settings available), the higher the torque and the larger the screw
that can be driven.
d. Gear Selection
The two-speed gearbox allows you to select the optimum speed and torque according to the application.
Select the 1
gear (low speed, high torque) by sliding the gear selector switch (7) backwards. Select the 2
st
gear (medium speed, medium torque) by sliding the switch forward. Do not switch gears when the drill is still
rotating.
e. Drilling Position
DRILL position: use this mode for high-speed drilling, driving in wood,
aluminium and steel.
HAMMER position. For best results, set the gear selector on 2.
