9. TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE

Problem
Unit does not work
Tested voltaje
battery is higher
than voltaje
received on
inverter input
terminals
Wrong input
voltage measured
Television
interference
Buzzing sounds or
noise using the
audio system
Possible causes
Battery voltage available
is smaller than 10Vdc in
case 12 Vdc system and
20Vdc if we are working
on 24 Vdc system.
Attached equipment
draws too much power.
Inverter is in thermal
shutdown condition.
Reverse polarity
connection, fuse burn.
Insufficient power or large
voltage drop.
Determined with a usual
voltmeter. Input voltage
below 11V (22V).
Snow, bad quality images.
The power supply of
the audio device does
not adequately filter
the modified sine wave
produced by the inverter.
Suggested solution
Charge or replace battery.
Reduce load to inverter's rated
power.
Inverter must cool down.
Check ventilation.
Make sure the load is within its rated
power.
Change the fuse.
Check condition of alligator clips.
Clean or replace then if neccessary.
Check size wires used is good enough
for the rated power.
Use true RMS reading meter. Keep
input voltage above 11V (22V).
Locate the inverter as far as possible
from TV, antenna and other cables.
Adjust the orientation of the inverter,
antenna cables and the TV power
cord.
Make sure that high quality shielded
antenna cable is used.
Get a sound system that uses a higher
quality power supply.
