d) Flash Release via Photo Sensor
The DPS Touch Flash Head can be released by a computer flash used with your camera, the incorporated flash of your camera
(not recommended, since the camera's flash metering system may produce a wrong exposure), by an infrared flash or another flash head.
- Flash release with various flash heads: Usually, one flash head is related to the camera and released
by the camera's flash. Further flash heads will be released via the photo sensor 11 simultaneously.
- Flash release via camera computer flash or incorporated camera flash: You can select a variety of
modes by touching key (6). The selected mode will be displays at key 6.
− No display:
Photo sensor is deactivated. Use synch cord for flash release
− 1:
Standard setting for flash release via another flash head or IR flash.
− 2 and 3:
Most of the computer flashes and incorporated camera flashes operate with pre-flashes for light measurements or
red-eye reduction effects. So the flash fires a number of almost invisible pre-flashes. In mode 1 the flash head
would be released by the pre-flashes and not synchronized to the main flash.
Test with your camera to find out which of the mode setting 2 or 3 fits with your camera's flash system.
e) Triggering via Sync Cord
The DPS Touch Flash Head can be released via the supplied sync cord. When you plug the sync cord into the
socket (1) make sure that both the flash head and your camera are switched off. Then connect the sync cord
to your camera (see camera's manual).
If your camera does not boast of a sync socket, check with your DÖRR representative for an optional adapter.
f) The DPS Touch Flash Head can also be triggered with an optional RF Remote Flash Trigger Kit.

4. Modelling Light

The modelling light assists you in finding out the correct illumination. It does not influence
the final result. You can program 3 different modes by touching the key 17 repeatedly.
a) Modelling Light off power: no additional information displayed.
b) Modelling Light set to PROPORTIONAL: Modelling Light: varies in proportion to
the selected flash power.
c) Modelling Light set to FREE: You can adjust the modelling light by yourself by touching
the key 7 – e.g. to avoid glare of your object.
5. Working with DÖRR DPS Touch Flash Head
Once the flash head is prepared to release and you have selected all settings, you can
adjust the desired flash power at key 10. Display (9) will vary in accordance with the flash power setting.
