19 - Before using the grinder, check that all safety (and other) devices are properly working.
20 - Never work with a damaged, improperly serviced/ fitted or arbitrarily modified grinder. Do not remove, damage, or neutralize any
safety devices.
21 - Use only the grinding wheels indicated in the chains table at the end of the handbook (columns M and N).
22 - Never use the grinder as a cutter or for grinding objects other than saw chains.
23 - Only lend your grinder to expert users who are familiar with its operation and correct use.
24 - Store your grinder in a dry place, raised off the ground. Keep it away from children.
25 - Never let your grinder in the rain or in wet environments.
26 - Never expose your grinder in explosive or inflammable atmosphere.
27 - When your grinder can no longer be used, do not abandon it in the surrounding environment. Take it to your dealer who will store or
dispose of it correctly.
28 - Always refer to your dealer for any explanations or important maintenance or servicing.
29 - Never jerk the cable to disconnect it from the outlet. Keep the cable away from heat, oil, and sharp objects.
30 - Disconnect mains connection before replacing the lamp.
31 - Check that the new lamp voltage corresponds to the data indicated on the tag applied to the grinding wheel protection.
32 - To avoid the risk of cutting yourself, to move the chain grasp it on the connection handle and not on the tooth's cutting part.
33 - Do not start the grinder while you are keeping the grinding wheel with your hands.
34 - Protect yourself from electrical shocks. Do not touch with your body any grounded metal surfaces which are not connected with the
machine.
35 - Do not force the tool while you're working.
ATTENTION – SETTING UP THE GRINDER
The grinder is supplied divided into two parts in a packing box. A pat includes the base complete with a chain clamping vice,
whilst the other part includes the wheel arm, complete with electric motor.
- place the base on the work bench according to the relevant notches, and secure it with M8 bolts using the holes provided in the base
(photo 1)
- mount the arm support, complete with arm and motor, on the base, by inserting the centering pin in the reference hole. Insert the
M10x40 hex-head bolt provided into the corresponding hole (photo 2)
- at the rear of the base, screw on the handwheel (2) provided, on the protruding part of the M10x40 hex-head bolt inserted previously
(photo 3)
- assemble the M6x25 hex-head screw on the arm and secure it with the M6 nut provided (photo 4)
- screw the grip (16) on the M6x25 hex-head screw already fastened to the top of the arm (photo 4)
- secure the grinding wheel guard (12) to the head of the motor, using the M5x12 screw and the provided hexagonal spanner 4 (photo 5)
- store the grinder in a place protected from dust and humidity, properly lighted, out of reach of children, far from gas, liquids
or combustible or explosive materials, and in such a way that its plug can be fitted into a suitable earthed socket without
using any dangerous extensions.
- fasten the grinder onto a bench (photo 1) or to a wall using two screws of appropriate length.
- when the grinder is fastened to a wall, make sure that it is not fixed at the level of the operator's eyes. We recommend that you install
the grinder at a maximum height of approx. 120-130 cm from the ground level.
- Once the grinder has been properly installed, the grinding wheel may be assembled (8).

FITTING THE GRINDING WHEEL - WARNING

- use a grinding wheel suitable for the type of chain to be ground, according to the chains table attached to this handbook (column N)
- before use, check that the grinding wheel to be used is in perfect condition. Hang the wheels by the central hole and tap it lightly
with a non-metal object on the side near the perimeter. You should hear a metallic sound. A dull sound means that the wheel is cracked
or broken and must not be used.
- do not force a grinding wheel on the hub and do not modify the diameter of the assembly hole. Use grinding wheels fit for the chain to
be ground.
- to fit the grinding wheel, use only clean hub and flange, free of any damage
- make sure that the outside diameters of the hub and the flange are the same (fig. 1)
- disassemble the screw and the flange (photo 6). Have the grinding wheel identified above slide inside the guard, properly center
the grinding wheel on the hub and re-assemble and tighten the flange with M6x25 screw, using the provided hexagonal spanner 5
(photo 7)
- be careful with the flange assembly, its discharge must look the grinding wheel side (fig. 2)
- if flanges are too tightened, the grinding wheel is likely to break or disintegrate during operation, endangering the operator. To prevent
this hazard, tighten M6x25 screw up to 7 Nm (if possible, check this data with a dynamometric wrench)
- position the auxiliary screen (15) in its seat, at the center of the main grinding wheel's guard (12) and fasten it with M5x12 screw, using
the provided hexagonal spanner 4 (photo 8).

CHECKING THE GRINDING WHEEL

- stand beside the wheel, start the grinder and visually check that it does not oscillate either laterally or transversally, causing any
anomalous vibration
- if this occurs, immediately stop the machine and make sure that the wheel has been properly installed. If necessary, replace the
wheel with an original spare part
- with the machine off, check the wheel profile by means of the orange template provided (fig. 3, point C)
- if necessary, after wearing suitable gloves and goggles, start the grinder and retouch the wheel profile with the wheel dresser pro-
vided. Proceed with the utmost care, holding the wheel dresser firmly with both hands. Contact with the wheel turning at high speed
is likely to cause burns or injuries
- before initiating grinding operations, test the assembled grinding wheel at working speed for at least one minute, keeping far from the
machine and checking that nobody is standing on the trajectory of its rotation plane.
N.B.: When the grinding wheel diameter is approx. 105mm (4.13 inches) replace it.
