SOFT-START
This LI-ION mower is equipped with a "soft-start"
feature. When initially starting up, the mower will take
approx. 3 seconds to get up to full speed. If the mower
does not initially start: Remove the battery and check
under the mower deck to ensure there is nothing
obstructing the blade and that the blade can spin freely
by hand. Even a small amount of grass on start up will
prevent the "soft-start" from turning the mower on.
CAUTION: Do not attempt to override the operation of
the safety lock-out button or bail lever.

VARIABLE-SPEED SELF-PROPEL SYSTEM
See figure 10
The mower is equipped with variable-speed self-propel
capability. This system is independent of the blade
On-Off switch; it is not dependent on blade rotation. For
example, when you have completed cutting your lawn,
you can use the self propel to propel the mower back to
your storage location without blade rotation. Or you may
choose to operate the mower as a non-self-propelled
mower to maximize battery run time.
To operate the self-propel system without blade
rotation:
Without starting the motor, pull the self-propel
control bar (4) to the handle (3).
To turn the self propel off, release the self-propel
control bar (4).
The system has variable speed. To increase the speed,
turn the self-propel speed control knob (5) counter-
clockwise. To decrease the speed, turn the self-propel
speed control knob (5) clockwise.
To operate the self-propel system with the blade
rotating for cutting:
Press and hold the safety lock-out button (1).
While continuing to hold the lock-out button, pull the
bail wire (2) toward the handle (3). Once the motor
starts, release the button (1).
Hold the bail wire (2) against the handle (3) with
one hand. Pull the self-propel control bar (4) to the
handle (3) with your other hand.
With your left hand, hold both the bail wire (2) and
the self-propel control bar (4) against the handle
(3), and use your right hand to adjust the self-propel
speed control knob (5) to choose the desired
speed.
During cutting, at times it may be easier to mow around
an object, with the self propel turned off or adjusted to a
lower speed.
WARNING: To reduce the risk of injury, never attempt
to override the operation of the switch or self propel
system. Use the self propel for its intended purpose
only.
