The dog: The dog's hair should be freshly washed and dried, and all knots and tangles
brushed out. Before you start clipping, turn the clipper on and hold it near the dog to
familiarise the dog to the humming sound of the clipper.

The groomer (yourself): Make sure you know how to trim your dog's
coat safely before you start clipping. If you have not clipped your dog before, obtain as
much information aspossible beforehand. Observe a professional groomer, vet or
trainer while they are clipping your/a dog. Ask questions so you know what to expect.
Then, try to be as relaxed as possible.
Turn the clipper off frequently during clipping and touch the blades to make sure the
blades are not getting too warm — hot blades can burn your dog!

cut into loose skin. Always ensure you hold the clipper with the blade running parallel
to the skin.It is normal that the pet clipper becomes hot during use. However, take care
not to burn your dog with hot blades. To prevent the blades becoming too hot, switch
off the unit regularly during clipping, take off the guide comb and apply a few drops of
oil to the blades. Wipe off any excess and start again.
Do not use water to cool the blades! Oiling the blades regularly during use will also
keep them cleaner, which means they will cut better.

Wash the brush and comb using the small brush supplied using warm water and

Do not use abrasive or aggressive products or substances such as petrol or acetone to
