Digital clinical thermometer SC 28 flex with
flexible measuring point and fever alarm
Special features
The SC 28 flex is a maximum thermometer, i.e. the highest temperature is displayed after only 10 seconds.
The most recent measured value is always saved. If the temperature registers higher than 37,5°C the fever
alarm will sound.
Safety information
• The SC 28 flex is suitable only for measuring human body temperatures.
• The thermometer contains small parts (batteries, etc) which could be swallowed by small children. Please
keep the thermometer and its batteries out of the reach of small children.
• Protect the SC 28 flex from direct sunshine and temperatures above 50°C.
• Never drop the SC 28 flex or open it (with the exception of the battery compartment for battery replacement).
Operating manual:
Press the I/O button to switch on. A short signal tone shows that the device is in the "switched on" condition. A
segment test takes place simultaneously (checks all display segments and carries out an internal function test
(see under "Function test")).
After this, if the temperature measured by the temperature sensor is less than 32°C, the display shows an "L"
and "°C". After around one second, the "°C" starts to blink. The „L" stands for low (less than 32°C).
The current temperature is continuously displayed during measurement, and the "°C" blinks during the entire
measurement time. The measurement is completed after around 10 seconds.
After the measurement is completed, the temperature value measured remains in the display until the SC 28 flex
is switched off. To turn the device off after use, press the I/O button briefly. The signal tone will again be
sounded. If the device is not switched off, a signal tone is sounded after around 3 minutes and the device then
switches off automatically.
Fever alarm
If the temperature measured is 37.5°C or higher, a fever alarm is sounded (short double beeps for about 4
seconds). Four long beeps indicate that measurement is completed and the temperature is below 37.5°C.
Display of last measured value:
If you keep the I/O button pressed for longer than three seconds, the last measured value will be shown in the
display. As soon as you release the I/O button, the device is ready to take measurements.
Measured value deviation
The measured temperatures will always deviate, depending on the measurement location. This is normal, and
caused by deviations in temperature distribution on the human body. You could, for example, measure a rectal
temperature of 36.6°C, an oral temperature of 36.1°C and an underarm value of 35.6°C.
Measurement locations
In the mouth (oral)
Small temperature variations in the mouth between measurements are
normal. These are caused by varying temperature distribution within the
mouth. Try to place the thermometer in one of the two heat pockets under
the tongue, to the left and right of the tongue root. The measurement sensor
must have good contact with the
tissue. The subject should close the mouth and breathe normally through
the nose so that the measured result is not affected by breathed air.
Measuring period: approx. 10 seconds
In the anus (rectal)
This is the safest method. It is particularly suitable for infants and small children. Guide the thermometer point
carefully 2 - 3 cm into the anus. Measuring period: approx. 10 seconds
Under the arm (axillary)
From a medical viewpoint this type of measurement leads to inaccurate values. It is therefore unsuitable for
carrying out exact measurements.
Measuring the basal body temperature
The device can also be comfortably and practically used for the measurement of fertile or unfertile days in the
female cycle using the temperature measurement method.
