The Webtec DHCR Series Digital readout with remote flow meter accurately measures flow,
pressure, temperature and speed. Webtec testers are designed for checking hydraulic pumps,
motors, valves and hydrostatic transmissions. This easy to use diagnostic unit can pin point
hydraulic system faults, reduce downtime and help in preventative maintenance. Main hydraulic
circuits, drain leakage flows and dual pumps can be measured simply at the turn of a switch.
The readout can be used in the most convenient position; for example, in the cab of a vehicle,
with the flow meters installed anywhere in the circuit.
A complete test system comprises a digital readout and one flow meter connected remotely by
a 2 or 4 metre long cable and micro-bore hose assembly to the left hand side of the readout.
The DHCR can be used with the complete LT range of Webtec flow meters as well as the
LTR range of flow meters with built-in loading valve. This manual uses the LT400R 400 lpm
(100 US gpm) flow meter with built-in loading valve as an example. For a full range of
compatible flow meters please consult Webtec LT and LTR literature. A second optional
flow meter can be connected via a cable to the front of the readout. Flow inputs can be easily
calibrated by the operator to a wide range of Webtec flow meters. The readout is scaled in
lpm, IMP gpm, US gpm, selected by push button. In addition to the range of flow meters, other
optional accessories include hoses, pressure loading valves and a phototachometer.
Installation Notes
1. Although the flow meter is bi-directional which means it can be used in both flow directions,
the preferred direction is indicated on the block. When the flow meter is used for reverse
flow tests, slightly lower accuracies may be obtained depending on the oil viscosity, density
and compressibility.
2. The flow meter can be connected to the hydraulic circuit by means of flexible hoses or rigid
pipes, 200 mm (8"). The use of quick-disconnect couplings can save time. The hoses and
fittings at the inlet to the flow meter must be of adequate size for the flow being tested.
Elbows, rotary couplings etc., at the inlet and outlet ports of the flow meter should be
avoided to ensure accurate readings.
3. Connect the cable and micro-bore hose assembly at the readout then connect to the flow
meter. IMPORTANT, after testing, disconnect at the flow meter first to avoid oil spillage.
4. After installing the tester it is important to ensure that all connections are tightened and
the oil can flow freely throughout the hydraulic system BEFORE running the machine at
full speed. Check that the circuit is correctly connected and any load valves are opened,
also quick disconnect couplers MUST be open. IMPORTANT start the pump momentarily
to ensure there is no obstruction which could cause pressure build up.
5. Ensure that the appropriate calibration factor is entered.
6. DHCR readouts have an automatic electronic system which shuts the power off after
approximately 15 minutes should you forget. To reactivate the tester, press the "ON" KEY.
7. Ensure the cable is plugged in the correct way - The end with the bugle near the connector
must be plugged into the DHCR.
The standard Webtec hydraulic testers and test equipment are designed for use with mineral oil having
reasonable lubrication properties. They are not suitable for use with water or fluids with a high water
content. If a tester is used with water it should be flushed immediately after use with white or methylated
spirit or similar and then flushed with mineral oil to minimise any internal corrosion. This may avoid an
expensive repair. Damage to a tester from the use of a non-approved fluid invalidates our normal warranty.
