2. Operating safety
CAUTION! Read all safety warnings and all instructions. Failure to follow the
warnings and instructions may result in serious injury or death.
The term "appliance" or "product" in the warnings and instructions refers to the < SEA
WATER FILTER >.
2.1. Safe use of the product
a) If in doubt as to whether the product is working properly or is found to be
damaged, contact the manufacturer's technical service.
b) Keep packaging components and small installation parts out of the reach of
children.
c)
When operating this appliance together with other appliances, follow each of
their user manuals.
d)
Install the filter above the boat's water line and on a vertical bulkhead.
e)
Install a cut-off valve for the outboard water scoop.
f)
Use flexible hoses to plumb the outboard water scoop to the filter and the filter
to the engine.
g)
Press-fitting of the hose couplings should only be made easier by using water
and/or soap. Do not use any lubricants or oils.
h)
Secure every hose connection with stainless steel hose clamps (not included).
i)
Mind the correct direction of flow through the filter.
j)
A poor seal of the closed filter cover will cause the sea water pump to entrain
air, resulting in overheating of the engine.
k)
Protect the filter against damage by draining water from the system or replacing
the water with an anti-freeze solution for winter. Prevent anti-freeze spills
overboard when priming the system. Anti-freeze formulas are toxic.
