frost protection heating cable for pipelines
Please read these instructions carefully before installation and use.
Damage caused by not following the instructions is excluded from any liability and warranty.
1. Safety instructions
Caution!
Risk of physical injury to people and animals and material damage if used incorrectly!
• Proper connection and installation should only be carried out by a qualified electrician! Please note the
relevant VDE (Association of German Electrical Engineers) regulations!

• Fire hazard! To prevent fires, the heating cable should be kept at least 13 mm away from all flammable materials.
• Fire hazard! Only non-flammable pipe insulation must be used. (Fig. 11)
• The heating cable connection must be at a 230 V socket with protective contact. This must be protected
with a B10 A or B16 A MCB. A separate 30 mA RCD circuit breaker should also be provided. A combined
RCD/MCB with adequate tripping characteristic may be used. The RCD circuit breaker must only supply the
circuits intended for the heating cable.
• The RCD in the distribution board, in sub-distribution boards and the socket or junction box must also
each be labelled with a sticker bearing warning signs and indicating the precise mounting location of the
heating cable.
• The circuits used to operate a heating cable must be clearly marked in the schematic and the fuse list.
• Regularly check the functioning of the RCD using the function key.
• Never form kinks in the heating cable. If the minimum bending radius of R
heating cable may no longer be installed and must be disposed of. (Fig. 1)
• This device can be used by children 8 years of age and older and by individuals with impaired physical,
sensory or mental abilities or those with insufficient experience and knowledge to do so, if they are being
supervised or have been trained on the safe use of the device and understand the underlying hazards.
Children may not play with the device. Cleaning and user maintenance may not be performed by children
without supervision.
• The frost protection heating cable jacket is only designed for contact with water and may not come into
contact with chemicals, acids and alkalis.
• Before laying, the heating cable should be checked for any transit damage, general damage, cracks or
discolourations in the heating cable jacket and across the entire device.
• Damaged heating cables may no longer be installed or connected to the mains.
• Check the voltage and performance of the heating cable on the type plate.
• The plug (230 V) may not be connected to the mains during installation.
• The heating cable must not be shortened and is ready to operate as supplied. It must also not be otherwise
altered. (Fig. 2)
• The selected heating cable must not be 600 mm shorter or longer than the tube section to be heated.
Excess length should be wrapped around the pipe at the end section with a minimum distance of 50 mm.
