1. Make sure the hull thickness is at least 1/2". If not, place a 1/2" thick block
of marine plywood (slightly larger than the pump base) in the lowest part
of the bilge. Make sure that the pump cover can be removed in this position
for cleaning. Glue the plywood to the hull using a waterproof adhesive
(epoxy, silicone or fiberglass resin). See Figure 1:

2. Position the pump at the lowest part of the bilge on a flat, level surface (on
the plywood block, if installed) with the outlet facing the transom. Make
sure the discharge nozzle is level. If it is pointing up or down, an air lock
may form in the pump (see Figure 1).
3. The end of the pump float must be level or above the edge of the pump
(see Figure 1). This prevents water from flowing out of the pump while the
float is still high enough to start the pump.
4. All water pockets must be eliminated by routing the hose horizontally or
continuously upward.
5. Mark the three mounting hole drilling locations with a pencil.
6. Carefully drill the holes in the designated location attach the pump base
with the appropriate screws.
7. Slide the hose clamps onto the end of the pipe (one to clamp the pipe at
the pump outlet, the other to secure the pipe in the hull). Place the pipe
over the pump outlet nozzle. Install the clamp.
8. Route the pipe at an upward angle to the hull (deck drain).
