If required, install a new M7 X 1.25 left-hand
(gold) stud bolt (I), or a new M8 X 1.25 left-hand
(silver) stud bolt (J) into the threaded hole in
gear case output shaft (K). Turn the left-hand
studs counterclockwise to tighten.
5)
If required, place spacer (G) on the base plate
of the gear case, match the spacer recess to
pilot diameter of the base plate.
NOTE: When the spacer is properly matched
and installed, there should be no gap between
the spacer and the base plate on the gear case.

Insert locking tool (A). Thread Speed-Feed
500 trimmer head (L) counterclockwise on to
mounting stud or output shaft (K). Hand-tighten
only.

NOTE: There should be no gap between the
spacer and the line head after tightening.
IMPORTANT: Do not force the assembly
process. Forcing the assembly process can
cause the threads to strip and result in perma-
nent damage.

Remove the locking tool.

If necessary, cut the trimmer lines so the length
does not extend beyond the cut-off knife on the
debris shield.
9)
To feed the trimmer line, bump the bottom of
the trimmer head against the ground while
running at normal operating speed.
IMPORTANT: When wear indicators (M) located at
the bottom of the Speed-Feed
smooth, or if holes appear, replacement of the cover
or the entire Speed-Feed
