Troubleshooting
Problem
The thermometer
fails to power on.
"Er1" is displayed.
The temperature
reading is lower
than the typical
body temperature
range.
Possible Cause
Low battery
Polarities of the
batteries are reversed.
The thermometer is
damaged.
The ambient
temperature is lower
than 10°C (50.0°F) or
higher than 40°C
(104°F).
The lens of the
temperature probe is
dirty.
The thermometer
probe is not aligned to
the eardrum.
The thermometer is
used within 30 minutes
after being taken from
a cold environment.

Solution
Change the batteries.
Make sure that the
batteries are installed
correctly.
Contact the
manufacturer.
Take a measurement
under an ambient
temperature between
10°C (50.0°F) and
40°C (104°F).
Clean the lens using a
cotton swab.
Reposition the
thermometer probe so
that it is aligned to
the eardrum.
Wait for more than 30
minutes after the
thermometer is
moved into the
