The scale is shipped ready to use. It was callibrated in the manufacturing facility
with certified weights, traceable to the national Institute Of Standards and
Technology (N.I.S.T.)
1. Unpack the scale.
2. Suspend the scale head from a solid support, which will allow the scale to
swing freely.
3. Attach the pan to the scale.
4. Re-check the suspension once more. The scale must be free to swing and the
pan must be suspended from the scale head in such a way that no part is
touching a surrounding object.
5. Adjust zero.
The zero adjust screw is located at the bottom of the scale head. Rotating the
screw clockwise or counter-clockwise with a screwdriver will move the pointer to
the right or left.
−
Remove the band by unscrewing the four holding screws.
−
Remove the pointer on the backside of the scale. To remove pointer you need
to ha a pointer remover.
−
Remove the back dial by unscrewing the two screws.
−
You will see two springs, one on each side of the pinion. Each spring has a
metal calibrator wedged between the upper coils. Their purpose is to establish
the number of active spring coils. By turning them further into the springs will
reduce the number of active coils, making the springs stiffer, i.e., making the
dial reading slow. By turning them out will make the dial reading go fast.
Therefore, it is easy to calibrate the scale by altering the relative positions of
those calibrators within the springs. Care should be exerted to move
calibrators on both springs approximately the same amount.
None normally required.
