Properly Connecting Your
PANAMAX POWER360
To completely protect your equipment from surges, every wire leading
into or out of the equipment you want to protect must be connected
to the appropriate Panamax surge protector. Damaging lightning and
power surges can enter your system through any AC power or signal-line
(phone line, grounding wires, coax cables, modem cables, LAN cables,
etc.) connected to your electronic equipment.
The Panamax Connected Equipment Protection Policy is void if any
wire leading into or out of the equipment is not properly connected to
the appropriate Panamax surge protector. The surge protector must also
be plugged into a properly wired and grounded outlet. Please see the
warranty for details or contact the Panamax Tech Support Department
with questions.
Important Safety Points
Panamax POWER360 and the connected equipment must be indoors,
in a dry location and in the same building. Although your Panamax
POWER360 is very durable, its internal components are not isolated from
the environment. Do not install any Panamax product near heat emitting
appliances such as a radiator or heat register. Do not install this product
where excessive moisture is present; for example near a bathtub, sink,
pool, basement floor, fish tank, etc. It is not uncommon for a building to
be improperly grounded. In order to protect your equipment, Panamax
products must be plugged into a properly wired and grounded 3-wire
outlet. Additionally, building wiring and grounding must conform to
applicable NEC (USA) or CEC (Canada) codes for the Panamax protection
policy to be valid.
Circle of Protection
The CIRCLE OF PROTECTION provides peace of mind that your connected
equipment is safe. When all lights are blue, you can rest assured that
your electronics are protected.
1. PROTECTED
BLUE indicates that the POWER360 is functioning properly and that
all connected equipment is protected. OFF indicates that the power
is disconnected from the outlets. If this light is OFF and the VOLTAGE
light is illuminated BLUE, then the PROTECT OR DISCONNECT feature
in your POWER360 has protected your equipment from a catastrophic
surge event and disconnected power. Unplug all electronics from your
POWER360 and contact Panamax Tech Support for assistance.
2. WIRING
BLUE indicates that the wall outlet is properly wired and grounded.
RED indicates an open ground (no ground wire) or reverse wiring
(polarity) condition is detected. Unplug all electronics from your
POWER360 and contact Panamax Tech Support for assistance.
3. VOLTAGE
BLUE indicates that incoming voltage is within a safe range.
RED indicates an over-voltage or brownout condition and that
POWER360 has disconnected power to connected equipment to keep it
safe. POWER360 will automatically reset when voltage is back within a
safe range. If condition persists, it is advisable to contact an electrician
or your power company to determine the cause of the abnormal voltage
issue.
Installation
NOTE to TV ANTENNA, SATELLITE DISH and CATV INSTALLERS:
Articles 810.21 and 820.40 of the NEC provide specific guidelines for
proper grounding, and in particular, specify that the cable ground shall
be connected to the grounding system of the building, as close to the
point of cable entry as practical.
Installing (AC Power):
1. Turn OFF the power to all equipment that will be plugged into the
unit.
2. Make sure that the ON/OFF switch is in the OFF position. Plug the
unit into the wall outlet and then turn it ON.
3. Verify that the "Wiring" LED is BLUE, indicating that the wall outlet
is properly wired.
4. Plug the equipment to be protected into the POWER360 unit and,
one at a time, turn each piece of connected equipment ON and check
for correct operation.
5. Turn OFF the unit and all connected equipment before connecting
any signal lines.

Installing (Telephone Lines):
(Note: Telephone patch cables not included)
IMPORTANT: Note the position of the IN and OUT jacks on the
POWER360 unit. IN is for the line connection that comes from the
wall or floor jack. OUT is for the line connection to your connected
equipment. The protection circuit will only function if connected
properly. Reversed connections will pass the signal to the connected
equipment but will also prevent the protection circuitry from
working and will invalidate the Panamax Connected Equipment
Protection Policy.
1. Make sure the POWER360 and all connected equipment is turned
OFF.
2. Take the incoming telephone line and plug it into the appropriate
IN jack on the protector. The line should now be connected between
the wall and the POWER360 unit.
3. Plug a telephone line (not included) into the OUT jack and then
plug the other end into the equipment to be protected.
4. Turn On the protector and the connected equipment. Verify that
each piece of connected equipment is receiving power and signal.
Installing (Coaxial Lines):
(Coaxial patch cables not included)
Note the position of the IN and OUT jacks on the POWER360 unit. IN
is for the line connection that comes from the wall or floor jack. OUT
is for the line connection to your connected equipment.
The POWER360 coaxial protection circuits achieve optimum signal
quality from Panamax's coaxial protectors that have the smallest
signal loss on the market – less than 0.5dB of attenuation from 0MHz
to 2.2GHz. Our coaxial protection has been specifically designed to
virtually eliminate signal loss to ensure HD video and high speed
internet performance is not compromised. The clamping level of 75
volts will meet the demands of both cable and satellite voltage while
minimizing exposure to spikes and surges.
NOTE: The CATV/Sat/Antenna protection circuit in these models is
bi-directional and has been designed to work with cable TV systems
that send pay-per-view ordering information to the cable company
over the coaxial line.
Make sure that your equipment is connected to the proper jacks.
When used with diplexers, this protection circuit must be placed
between the diplexer and the Satellite receiver; it will not
protect the diplexer.
1. Make sure the Panamax protector and all connected equipment
is turned OFF.
2. Connect the coaxial cable from the CATV system, antenna, or
Satellite dish to the appropriate LINE connector on the POWER360.
3. Connect a coaxial cable from the EQUIP jack on the protector
to appropriate input jack on your TV, cable modem or Satellite
receiver.
USB Charging Station:
Your POWER360 includes a modular dual-port charging station. The
unique, patent-pending design of this charging station allows it to
be removed from the base unit and placed on a nearby desk or table
top for easy access.
The charging station must be tethered to, or plugged directly
into, your base unit to charge. A 6' tether cable is included. If you
require a longer cable, various lengths of standard USB-to-Micro
USB cables are commonly available. A rubber foot is included for
your charging station. Applied on the bottom and towards the front
of your charging station, it will help keep your charging station in
place. Your charging station can handle up to 2.1A capacity, typically
enough for 2 mobile devices or 1 tablet. The USB charging ports are
surge-protected.
Wall Mounting:
Your POWER360 may be affixed to a wall or other flat surface.
1. Determine the mounting location. Hold the POWER360 unit up
against the location and mark drilling positions using the mounting
guides on the sides of the unit. Note: You are marking the center
point where you would like the unit to be mounted.
2. Drive a #6 screw into each drilling position. Leave approximately
1/8" of space between the back of the screw head and the wall.
3. Position the POWER360 over the two screws and slide down to
lock into place.
4. Using the above procedure allows easy removal of the unit by
sliding up to disengage the unit from the screws.
