WARNING!
Screed Shaker™ is supplied with a 120 Volt
AC 50/60 HZ motor, plus a grounded circuit
for safety. Use only with grounded outlets and
extension cords suitable for use outdoors and
so marked – Grounded for outdoor use. Never
allow cords, switches, plugs, etc. to lie in or
around wet concrete. BE SURE ELECTRI-
CAL SOURCE IS PROPERLY GROUNDED.
We recommend the use of a ground fault
interrupter when using our Screed Shaker™.
Make certain that the power source is discon-
nected before attempting to service any equip-
ment. Never allow any liquid to get inside tool
– Never immerse any part of tool into liquid.
Congratulations! You have just purchased
a concrete vibrator that will save you hours
of time, and better yet – money. It can be
attached to a 2" x 6" wood board up to 16'
in length or a 20' aluminum or magnesium
screed board. Driven by its own power unit,
Screed Shaker™ walks itself, saving time and
labor.
Used properly, Screed Shaker™ will oper-
ate for years trouble free, with a minimum of
maintenance. Take a few minutes to read the
following instructions in order to get the maxi-
mum benefit in using this product safely.
Setup and Installation:
For the Screed Shaker™ to operate with
minimum of ease, and to walk or pull in the
right direction, it must be properly installed on
the screed board.
1. Mount the vibrator in the middle of the
screed board. The screed board may be wood
aluminum, or magnesium. The vibrator should
be placed on the board so that the clamping
screws are on the back side, and the power
cord runs out the right side as the operator is
facing the unit. When attached to the board in
this position, the vibrator will walk or pull the
screed board toward the rough poor.
NOTE: Keep board clean. Concrete build-up
adds weight to board and will reduce effective-
ness of unit.
2. Two thumb-screw clamps are provided to
hold the unit in place on the screed board.
When installed on the board, tighten the
clamps securely. Run unit for one minute.
Stop unit and retighten the clamp screws. Be
sure air-cooling vents on the unit are clear of
obstructions when in operation.
3. For easy operation attach a 12" 2 x 4 on
each side of the screed board at point where
screed board rides on the form. This will pro-
vide additional stability.

4. While using the Screed Shaker™, which
comes complete with electrical cord and
toggle switch, it is suggested the power cord
be attached to the screed board to prevent it
from dropping into wet concrete. (see warning)
Cleaning and Lubrication
Use only soap and damp cloth immediately
after use to remove concrete spatter, or wait
until splatter is dry and rub lightly with dry cloth
or hands. Never allow any liquid to get inside
the toll – never immerse any part of the tool
into a liquid.
Motor and pillow blocks are pre-lubricated
at the factory and will not require any further
lubrication.
Applications for Screed Shaker™ Use:
Besides finding the Screed Shaker™ to be an
invaluable vibrator for sidewalks, driveways,
roadways, and cement bins, it also has been
found to be a great advantage in the following
ways:
1. Side wall forms – to eliminate honeycomb-
ing and air pockets, use the Screed Shaker™
vibrator attached to a short 2 x 4 and holds
against form, or attach it directly to the form.
2. Steps – (forms) – follow direction for side
wall forms above
3. All types of Bin mounting – cement bins,
grain bins, gravity-flow wagons, etc. Attach
directly to bins to free compacted material.
4. Precast forming – compacts and helps
remove air bubbles: makes stronger concrete
(the vibrator is attached to the form)
5. Flagstone laying for Patios – Pour floor,
lay flagstone on cement, place vibrator board
across stones and vibrate stones into place for
a smooth, professional job.
6. Round bin floors – for circular grain bin
floors, etc., stake or peg center of screed
board, mount vibrator 1/3 of the way in from
the form, and Screed Shaker™ will walk board
around in a circle.
7. Polymer (epoxy) Floor overlays – mount
vibrator on straight edge and use for leveling
epoxy overlays.

Screed Shaker™ Motor Trouble Shooting
The motor used in the Screed Shaker™ is a
brush-type motor sensitive to power surges
(high/low voltage) and proper cooling.
If Screed Shaker™ is subjected to low or high
power voltages the motor will over-heat and
failure or reduced motor life is very possible.
If operators are using Screed Shaker™ under
these high or low power conditions, we recom-
mend owners keep an extra motor on hand to
prevent down time.
Some typical problem areas may be:
a. Power supplied by portable generators;
power may surge
b. Long runs of power cords; power may drop.
c. Incorrect sizing of power cords; power may
drop
d. Other power tools used on same power
supply cords; power may drop
e. Incorrect power voltages; motor may
burn-out
Screed Shaker™ requires 120 Volts, 1.1
Amps, 50/60 Hz. For proper operation
NOTE:
Motors are supplied complete with leads and
plug. DO NO DISASSEMBLE MOTOR AS-
SEMBLY. Motor screws are pre-torqued at the
factory for proper motor operation. Changing
this torque may result in reduced motor life,
reduced vibrator output, and/or motor failure.
