To measure the resistance " ", proceed as follows:
• Switch on the "EM393B" by turning the switch to the
largest measuring range (2 M).
• Plug the measuring cables into the measuring sockets
according to the colour coding.
• Check the measuring cables for continuity by connecting
the two test prods to one another. This must result in a
resistance of about 0.5 ohm (inherent resistance of the
measuring cables).
• Then connect both test prods to the object to be measured.
Unless the object has a high
resistance or is discontinuous, the measured value appears
on the display. Wait until the display has stabilised.
• Depending on the result, you can now adjust the
measuring range by turning the switch.
• After completing the measuring process, remove the
measuring cables from the object to be measured and
switch off the "EM393B" (rotary switch in "OFF" position).
7.4 Diode test and continuity check
Warning
Always make sure that all circuitry components, circuits
and parts to be measured as well as other objects to be
measured are disconnected from the power supply and
discharged.
Switch on the "EM393B" by turning the switch to the diode
symbol.
• Plug the measuring cables into the measuring sockets
according to the colour coding.
• Check the measuring cables for continuity by connecting
the two test prods to one another. This must result in a
value of about 0, and a humming tone must be audible.
A measured value of about < 50 ohm is recognized as
representing continuity and a continuous tone is emitted.
• Connect both test prods to the object to be measured.
• After completing the measuring process, remove the
measuring cables from the object to be measured and
switch off the "EM393B" (rotary switch in "OFF" position).
7.5 Test signal TTL
(Transistor-Transistor Logic):
• Function check for transistor control (logic control in digital
technology).
• Output as 0 (no current) or 1 (current).

8. Replacing the fuse:
The multimeter is protected by two fuses (F1 250mA/300V
fast, Ø 5x20mm and F2 10A/300V, fast, Ø 5x20mm). To
replace it, proceed as follows:
• Disconnect the measuring device from live components and
pull off the measuring cables.
• Unscrew both screws at the back of the housing.
• Remove the rear part of the housing.
• Lift the fuse from its socket with tweezers or a screwdriver.
• Insert a new fuse with the same speci cations into the
socket.
• Avoid touching the printed circuit board or any parts
attached to it, as this may cause damage.
• Close the cover and rmly tighten the screws of the
housing.
9. Cleaning
Before cleaning the device, it is essential that you observe the
following safety instructions:
• When opening covers or removing parts (unless these
can be opened or removed by hand), live parts may be
exposed. Before carrying out any cleaning or repair work,
the connected cables must be disconnected from the
measuring device and all objects to be measured. Switch
off the "EM393B". Do not use carbon-containing cleaning
agents, benzines, alcohols or the like for cleaning. These
substances have a damaging effect on the surface of the
measuring device. Moreover, the vapours are hazardous
to health and explosive. Do not use any tools with sharp
edges, screwdrivers, metal brushes or the like for cleaning.
To clean the device or the display and the measuring
cables, use a clean, lint-free, antistatic and slightly moist
cleaning cloth.
10. Warranty Disclaimer
Hama GmbH & Co KG assumes no liability and provides no
warranty for damage resulting from improper installation/
mounting, improper use of the product or from failure to
observe the operating instructions and/or safety notes.
