• The LX-GSM-01 only works with latest-generation SIM cards (3 Volt). if you have an old gen-
eration SIM card contact your provider to have it replaced with a latest-generation card.
6.3
Check SIM card reception signal
Check that the installation area has adequate GSM coverage by the selected provider. Check for
the presence of the correct GSM signal using the specific LED bar located in the device (point
17 - page 67) or with a pre-analysis obtained by inserting the selected SIM Card in a normal
mobile telephone. Remember, as mentioned in section 5, to position the GSM dialler in an area
as favourable as possible for good signal reception (i.e. near windows or openings). If there is no
signal or a fluctuating signal you can install an external antenna in a more favourable location.
Interpretation of the LED SIGNAL bar:
LEDs off
1 LED on
2 LEDs on
3 LEDs on
4-5 LEDs on
The LX-GSM-01 has a GSM module and relative latest generation SIM Card reader. Nevertheless,
no guarantee is provided on SMS text message sending times from and to the device (com-
mands, queries or reception of alarms). SMS text message management is the exclusive respons-
ibility of the mobile telephone network provider. The SMS text message exchange speed there-
fore depends exclusively on the GSM repeaters and the priorities established by them.
6.4
Check GSM antenna connection
Never power the LX-GSM-01 dialler without first checking the correct connection of the included
stylus antenna or the external antenna. The stylus antenna or the SMA male connector connec-
ted to the external antenna cable must be screwed in all the way to the SMA female connector. If
the dialler is started without an antenna the radio transmitter power inside the GSM unit could
be seriously compromised.
7. Use/configuration of the device
7.1
Switching on the GSM dialler
After rechecking that all the preliminary instructions from section 6 have been carried out and
after rechecking correct installation and electrical connections as indicated in section 5 you can
proceed to activation of the electrical power supply to the LX-GSM-01.
On the first start-up of the LX-GSM-01 a few seconds will be needed to lock onto the GSM net-
work. During this initial phase the blue NL LED located on the front panel of the device will light
up for a few seconds and then will begin to flash quickly (one pulse every second). This means
that the GSM device is searching for the network in order to connect.
Once the GSM network has been locked in this will be confirmed by a slow flashing of the blue
DL LED (one flash about every 3 seconds). Check this condition before proceeding with use of the
LX-GSM-01.
