Coax Cable Mapper / Mapeador de cable coaxial / Mappeur de câbles coaxiaux
Instruction Manual / Manual de instrucciones / Manuel d'instructions
Features
• Four color coded remote terminators for mapping coax multiple locations
• Terminators are stored on the back of the main test unit when not in use
• F-type interface on main unit and remotes
• F-81 barrel adapter for attaching a remove to a terminated male F connector
• Identifies opens in a coaxial cable line (cut coax, unterminated ends, or loose connectors)
• Identifies shorts in coaxial cable line (shielding contacting conductor pin)
WARNING
Do not attach to live AC circuits. Not for use on electrical circuits or powered outlets. Attach only to
de-energized coaxial cable.
Instructions for Use
1) Attach one or more remote terminators to the coaxial cables that are to be mapped/identified.
Terminators can be pressed directly on to the wall plate outlets with female F ports. Loose or
patch cables will need an F-81 plus a terminator to map.
2) Connect the main test unit can be connected to the other end of one cable, generally where
cables are coming from (demarcation point).
3) Press the test button on the main unit. If the cable attached to the main tester is terminated at the
other end with one of the remotes, the corresponding PASS light will illuminate on the main unit.
4) Continue to test other cables in the same manner until they are identified.
5) Store the remotes by pressing them and F-81 into the tester housing when work is completed.
Troubleshooting
• Remove any splitters or active devices that are installed between the test point and the terminator.
Splitters may interfere with the mapping results. Testing each section of coax independently is
recommended for finding cabling issues.
• OPEN indicates the line under test has no terminator at the other end. When testing a patch cable
with a terminator on the other end, if open is illuminated, the cable connector may not be
terminated correctly.
• SHORT typically indicates a problem with the coax where a staple or other item may have
damaged the cable itself. It may also indicate an issue with the coax connector not being crimped
properly.
