| UNPACKING |
Carefully remove the system components from the carton:
2 Satellite speakers with pedestals attached
1 Control preamplifier
1 Subwoofer with power amplifier
1 Packet of two individual speaker connections, AC power cord,
DC power cord, DIN cord, stereo minijack cable
1 Owner's manual
PEAKER PLACEMENT
1. The two satellite speakers should be positioned on each side of your monitor.
To wall mount, the pedestal stands may be removed by unscrewing the 1/2"
20-thread bolt, which accommodates the GMX wall bracket available at
www.klipsch.com.
2. Locate the subwoofer either directly under your computer desk, or close to the
Satellite speakers. Do not cover up the sub driver or rear port of the enclosure
and be sure to provide enough ventilation to the rear of the subwoofer. It is
normal for this panel to be warm to the touch. The subwoofer should be no
closer than 10" to the computer monitor to avoid interference.
3. Speaker or power cables running across an area of heavy foot traffic should
be positioned against a wall or corner and secured with tape.
YSTEM
SETUP AND
CONNECTION
Fe
1. Connect the stereo mini plug cable (green) into the "Line In" input on the
controller (green) and plug the other end (green) into the soundcard output
jack (usually green) on the rear of the PC/MAC, or the headphone output of a
laptop or MP3/CD player. Since the Klipsch GMX A-2.1 has its own internal
amplifier, it was designed to hook into the line out connector. Connection to
the speaker level output jack might result in poor sound quality.
2. Connect the DIN plug (9 pin connector) into the "DIN Out" output on the
controller and then into the Preamp input on the back of the subwoofer.
3. Using the two supplied speaker cables, connect the outputs on the back of
the subwoofer to the matching satellites. The striped wire should be
connected to the red speaker terminal.
4, Plug a game console into the "Aux In" RCA (analog) jacks on the controller if
desired (cable not supplied).
5. Plug the DC power cable into the controller (DC 7V IN) and into the Preamp
Supply on the back of the subwoofer.
6. Plug the AC power cord into the back of the subwoofer (note that it is
polarized on both ends) then plug into the wall outlet.

SOFTWARE VOLUME CONTROLS IN MICROSOFT WINDOWS

VOLUME CONTROL PROGRAMS
Some Soundcard and/or PC manufacturers may have software that must be
adjusted separately from the Windows volume control. Consult applicable manual
for specific hardware documentation.
MAIN VOLUME CONTROL
Turning the control knob clockwise will raise the volume and turning the knob
counterclockwise will lower the volume. Turning the knob fully counterclockwise
until it "clicks" will mute the amplifier, and the LED will change from green to red.
SUBWOOFER LEVEL
Optimal sub levels and user preference may vary from movies, music and
games. Often a high bass level is preferred, especially at low listening levels.
Remember to reset the control settings before playing CDs or films on DVD.
ONTROL POD FEATURE
Headphones: The '/s' stereo headphone output jack, located on the rear of the
preamplifier turns off the two satellite speakers and the subwoofer output. The
main volume control will adjust the headphone output.
The auxillary input jack is used with portable audio players. This signal will be
mixed with the main source. To obtain the proper balance with the main signal, the
level adjustments in the computer software and in the portable player will need to
be adjusted. An example would be listening to an MP3 player while surfing the net
and hearing associated sounds from the various web sites. The mixed sound may
not be desirable, and you will ultimately determine how you use this feature.
NOTE: During playback of MP3 files, overall sound quality may be perceptibly
degraded compared to other audio sources such as CD. This is caused by the
encoding method and quality of the MP3 file. It is recommended that MP3 files
be encoded at a minimum 128-bit rate.
