Action the main switch on. Some of the controls on
the panel should flash to indicate that the furnace is
ready to operate.
Put in the cylinders and crucibles to be heated. When
the furnace is operating, always use gauntlets and
tongs. Talleres Mestraitua, S.L. recommends
MESTRA tongs.
The furnace is factory-supplied with a series of stan-
dard programs in its memory. However, it is advisa-
ble to program the furnace as indicated above to
ensure that the programs stored meet your own requi-
rements. These programs can be used and modified
as required in future.
Select the program you want to run (P1, P2, P3, P4 o
Pr). If you do not select any program, then the direct
heating program will run (look at the previous sec-
tion).
Press the START/STOP
gram.
In order to stop the running program at any time,
keep pressing the START/STOP
If there is a power cut the furnace retains in its mem-
ory the parameters of the step in progress, and when
power is restored the program will continue from the
point at which it stopped. If the switch is turned off
before the program is completed, the furnace takes
this as a power cut.
If alarm is activated, it will sound at the end of the
program (look at the Alarm section).
The furnace will keep the last set temperature until
the user stops the program running by keep pressing
the START/STOP
At the end of the process, remove the cylinders and
crucibles carefully. While the unit is running the
outer housing may heat up. The cylinders and cruci-
bles also heat up considerably, and so gauntlets and
tongs should be used when handling them.
To run another program, first you must stop the fur-
nace by keep pressing the START/STOP
Turn the main switch off to disconnect the furnace
from the power supply.
DISPLAY MESSAGES
The Concept furnaces can show some messages in dis-
play, to make the use easier:
dEL
It means that the delayed start time is counting
down. Lower display shows the remaining hours
for the start.
doo
It means that the door is open.
tH1
It means that the thermocouple is damaged or
unplugged. Replace the thermocouple.

button.
button.
button.
tri
It means that the triac is damaged. Turn the main
switch off and contact inmediatly to technical
service.
MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING
To ensure long, reliable operation of the unit, proceed as
follows:
Clean the outside of the furnace regularly with a cloth
moistened in soapy water.
Take care not to damage the muffle lining the inside
walls of the furnace hearth when you put in or take
out cylinders and crucibles.
Always use the SiO2 hearth plate to prevent filtra-
tion, which may damage the muffle.
Prevent liquids or solids from contaminating or dirt-
ying the muffle of the furnace.
To make best use of the unit, Talleres Mestraitua,
S.L. recommends the use of MESTRA cylinders and
crucibles.
The two circuit breakers located near the cable pro-
tect the furnace against electric overloads. To get the
furnace working again, once solved the problem, you
will have to reset the circuit breakers.
If the controls detect that the triac is damaged, upper
display will show the message "tri". If this alarm
message appears, turn the main switch off and con-
tact inmediattly the technical service.
IMPORTANT
If during the normal use of the furnace the upper
display shows the message "tH1", turn the main
switch off and ask inmediatly to an authorized
MESTRA distributor. This message means that the
thermocouple is damaged. The thermocouple is sub-
ject to wear, and its durability depends on working
temperature. This element is not covered by guaran-
tee.
PRECAUTIONS
Before connecting the unit ensure that the power out-
let is for 230 V, 50/60 Hz, and that it is earthed. It
must also be properly protected by a thermal magne-
tic cut-out (consult your installer).
Do not allow children or unskilled personnel to hand-
le the unit.
Always keep the door closed while the furnace is
operating.
Take care when opening the door: the hot fumes pou-
ring out can cause burns.
Do not overfill the furnace or place objects in it
which might fall when the door is opened.
Do not put inflammable materials or liquids in the
furnace, or substances which may give off toxic fu-
mes.
