High single digit as well as double digit mA values in connection
with storage tanks that are equipped with additional non-enamelled
heat exchangers can be a sign of poor insulation of correspon-
ding inserts against the boiler or tank.
The protective current measurement of I = 0 mA is unequivocal.
In this case no current is flowing and no cathodic corrosion pro-
tection is available anymore. Check the installation! In the case of
protection with Mg sacrificial anodes, the replacement of the
anode is probably necessary.
Information: Please note that the measured protective current
shows the functioning or non-functioning of an Mg anode or
CORREX
for sufficient protection in the storage tank!
4.3 Function test polarity diode
Depending on the model type, CORREX
systems can be equipped with a false polarity protection diode. The
diode prevents the current flow through the CORREX
when the connections for anode and tank are interchanged during
installation. For more details see operating instructions of the CORREX
potentiostats.
In order to test the function of the diode(s), the water is drained from
the tank until the anode(s) is/are no longer in contact with the water
in order to exclude electrical con ductivity through the water.
Measurement is carried out as follows:
1. Set CorroScout
2. Take the Correx potentiostat out of service by disconnecting it
from the mains.
3. Connect the positive pole of the measuring device with the M8
threaded bolt of the titanium anode and the negative pole of the
measuring device with the locking screw or the tank structure.
With correct polarity, the diode must now block; display: overflow
/ no digital measurement display / or display "1".
