2 Safety Notes
This unit corresponds to all relevant directives of
the EU and is therefore marked with
WARNING The unit uses dangerous mains
voltage. Leave servicing to skilled
personnel only and do not insert
anything into the air vents. Inex-
pert handling may result in electric
shock.
•
The unit is suitable for indoor use only. Protect
it against dripping water and splash water, high
air humidity and heat (admissible ambient tem-
perature range: 0 – 40 °C).
•
Do not place any vessel filled with liquid on the
unit, e. g. a drinking glass.
•
The heat generated inside the unit must be dissi-
pated by air circulation; never cover the air vents
of the housing.

•
Do not operate the unit or immediately discon-
nect the plug from the mains socket
1. if there is visible damage to the unit or to the
mains cable,
2. if a defect might have occurred after the unit
was dropped or suffered a similar accident,
3. if malfunctions occur.
In any case the unit must be repaired by skilled
personnel.
•
Never pull the mains cable for disconnecting the
mains plug from the socket, always seize the plug!
•
For cleaning only use a dry, soft cloth; never use
chemicals or water.
•
No guarantee claims for the unit and no liability
for any resulting personal damage or material
damage will be accepted if the unit is used for
other purposes than originally intended, if it is
not correctly connected or operated, or if it is
not repaired in an expert way.
If the unit is to be put out of operation
definitively, take it to a local recycling
plant for a disposal which is not harmful
to the environment.
3 Applications
The line splitter allows to split 2 line input signals to
5 outputs each or 1 line input signal to 10 outputs.
Thus, e. g. in a PA system, an audio signal can be
fed to 10 amplifiers as a maximum and the input
level can individually be adjusted for each amplifier
via a separate control.
4 Setting Up
The unit is provided for rack mounting (482 mm /
19"), but it can also be used as a table top unit.
For mounting into a rack, 1 rack space is required
(1 rack space = 44.5 mm). To ensure sufficient cool-
ing, air must always be able to flow freely through
all air vents.
5 Connection
Prior to making or changing any connections, switch
off the line splitter and the units to be connected.
5.1 Inputs and outputs
The balanced XLR input jacks allow connection of
up to 2 units with line output (e. g. CD players,
mixers) and the balanced XLR outputs up to 10
amplifiers (or other units with line input to which
the signals are to be split). If required, use adapters
.
(from RCA jack or 6.3 mm jack to XLR).
The connection depends on the operating mode:
1. To split one input signal to all 10 outputs (oper-
ating mode MONO), connect the signal source
to the input (13) of channel 1 and the amplifiers
to the outputs [(10) and (11)].
2. To split two inputs signals or one stereo signal
to 5 outputs each (operating mode STEREO),
a) connect the signal source 1 or the left channel
of the stereo unit to the input (13) of channel 1
and the amplifiers to which the signal is to be
split to the outputs (11) of channel 1;
b) connect the signal source 2 or the right chan-
nel of the stereo unit to the input (12) of chan-
nel 2 and the amplifiers to which the signal is
to be split to the outputs (10) of channel 2.

5.2 Power supply
1) For continued operation of the unit after a mains
failure, connect a 24 V emergency power sup-
ply unit (e. g. PA-24ESP from MONACOR) to the
screw terminals (9). Observe in any case the cor-
rect polarity when connecting. To make handling
easier, the terminals can be removed from their
plug-in connections.
Note: When ⎓ 24 V is available at the terminals,
the unit will be in operation even when the POWER
switch (6) has been set to "Off". When both the
emergency power supply and the mains power
supply are available, the POWER switch will switch
between these two power supplies.
2) Connect the supplied mains cable to the mains
jack (7) and the plug of the cable to a mains
socket (230 V/ 50 Hz).
6 Operation
1) To switch the unit on and off, use the POWER
switch (6) [position I = "On"]. The power LED
(5) will light up when the unit is switched on.
Note: When, in case of a mains failure, the unit is
operated by means of an emergency power supply
unit, the POWER switch will have no effect.
2) Switch on the units connected, the units which
are connected to the outputs last.
3) Select the operating mode:
Operating mode MONO: To feed the input signal
of channel 1 to all outputs [(10) and (11)], press
button (2).
Operating mode STEREO: To feed the input signal
of channel 1 to the outputs of channel 1 (11) and
the input signal of channel 2 to the outputs of
channel 2 (10), button (2) must be disengaged.
4) The LEDs PEAK (1), one each for channel 1 and
channel 2, serve as overload indicators for the
input signals. They should not light up at all or
only light up briefly with signal peaks. If an LED
lights up permanently, the output level of the
respective signal source must be reduced.
5) With the controls, the levels for the outputs can
individually be adjusted:
– the 5 level controls CH 1 (3)
for the 5 outputs (11) of channel 1
– the 5 level controls CH 2 (4)
for the 5 outputs (10) of channel 2
