Polytron SE Ex PR NPT1 DQ sensing heads
1. After shutting down the operating voltage, unfasten the locking screw on the
top of the sensing head and unscrew the upper part.
2. Unfasten the sensor lines from terminals 1, 2 and 3.
3. Unscrew the old sensor. Disconnect the push-in connector from the sensor
lines on the new sensor, shorten the lines as appropriate and strip approx. 8
to 10 mm. Use the ferrules provided. Screw in the new sensor (torque: 20
±5 Nm). A minimum of 5 rotations is required to ensure the "d" protection
type.
4. Connect the lines on the new sensor to the terminals:
Terminal 1
Terminal 2
Terminal 3
Terminal 4
5. Position the upper part with the corresponding sealing ring and screw-fasten
observing the relevant explosion protection regulations, ensuring that the
device is free of dust. Tighten the locking screw.

1. After shutting down the operating voltage, unfasten the four screws on the
top of the sensing head and remove the upper part.
2. Unfasten the sensor lines from terminals 1, 2 and 3.
3. Unscrew the old sensor. Shorten the sensor lines for the new sensor as
appropriate and strip by approx. 8 to 10 mm. Use the ferrules provided.
4. Check the sensor current and set to 255 mA.
WARNING
To preserve the IP 66 protection rating and for explosion protection reasons,
ensure that the sensor sealing ring and the flat silicone gasket included with the
sensor are correctly seated.
5. Screw in the new sensor (torque: 7 ±2 Nm) and secure against self-
loosening, e.g. using Loctite no. 221.
6. Connect the lines on the new sensor to the terminals:
Terminal 1
Terminal 2
Terminal 3
Terminal 4
