Instruction leaflet PowerBox™ 24/28 l
Thank you for choosing Campingaz®.We hope that you will
be completely satisfied with the PowerBox™ thermo-electric
cooler.
1.WARNING
Never try to connect the cooler directly to the 230Vac
supply.
Never pour liquid in the vents or obstruct the vents of the
cooler (Drawing B 8).
Do not heat sealed containers. As they heat, the increasing
pressure could cause them to burst; the explosion could
cause bodily injury and damage the cooler.
Avoid exposing your thermo-electric cooler to damp wea-
ther conditions i.e. rain and snow.
Water ingress into the power supply, fan motor or other
electrical parts may result in fire, causing personal injury
and/or component failure.
Never add ice into the thermo-electric cooler. The melting ice
could damage the fan motor and freeze on the radiator fins.
2.WARNING
The PowerBox™ cooler is a thermo-electric cooler and not
a refrigerator. The inside temperature varies in respect to the
outside ambient temperature.
This cooler generates heat. Therefore, it requires good air
circulation to operate properly. Never prevent the circulation
of air generated by the fans inside and outside of the cooler.
Avoid using it in the car boot, unless you have an MPV or a
station wagon (Drawing A ).When using it in a parked car,
leave the windows slightly open.
Avoid exposing your thermo-electric cooler to direct sunlight.
During a long period of use, the cooling units may cause
water to condense inside the cooler.
3. CONNECTION
3.1 - 12Vdc socket
Take the cable out of the storage compartment
(Drawing B2), select temperature option and connect
into the side (Drawing B3) (Only for PowerBox™
Deluxe) of the cooler.
Drawing B4 shows 12Vdc plug.
3.2 - EuroTransformer 230Vac/12Vdc (Drawing C)
Important: In order to maximise the cooling performance
when travelling to a camping site, hotel or at home before
leaving, we highly recommended you to buy the Campingaz®
230Vac/12Vdc Euro Transformer. This Transformer has been
specially developed to work with our Thermo-electric
coolers. Thanks to the Autoswitch system, if the power supply
output (230Vac) varies, the output power will always remain
stable at 13Vdc, other transformer types (not Campingaz®)
may not have this facility. Damage to the cooler resulting from
the use of an incompatible transformer will void the guarantee.
Just plug the 12Vdc plug of your cooler (Drawing C2) to
the socket of the transformer (Drawing C3), and the
PowerBox™ thermo-electric cooler will work from the
transformed 230Vac to 12Vdc supply.
3.3 - LED (Drawing D)
(Only for PowerBox™ Deluxe)
Green led (Drawing D1) "on" means cooler is running .
Red led (Drawing D2) "flashing" means that battery
control has switched off the cooler motor due to car
battery level under 11.5Vdc (more details in section 4.4)

4. OPERATION
The PowerBox™ thermo-electric cooler can be used for
cooling or heating (heating: only for Deluxe version and the
PowerBox™ thermo-electric cooler socket is reversible).
4.1 - Cooler preparation
For optimum results, place previously cold foods and drinks in
the PowerBox™ thermo-electric cooler.They will stay cool
for longer (see section 3.2); and vice versa for the hot
function.
4.2 - Cooling
For cooling, connect the socket with the blue dot facing up
(drawing E ).
4.3 - Heating (PowerBox™28l Deluxe)
For heating, connect the socket with the red dot facing up
(drawing E ). PowerBox™ thermo-electric cooler is designed
to keep hot foods hot, to maximum 65°C.
4.4 - Battery Control (PowerBox™ 28l Deluxe)
The Battery Control System constantly monitors the car bat-
tery power, therefore protecting your car battery and your
car at all times.
4.4.1 • Before starting the engine: Before the engine is started,
the Battery Control System checks the battery volta-
ge. If the voltage is under 11.5Vdc, the Cooler will not
start and the red LED will flash (drawing F).The cooler
will start only when the car engine is running.
4.4.2 • After the car engine stops:When you stop your car
engine, the Battery Control System checks the voltage
of your car battery. When the power (Volts / Amps) of
the car battery drops under 11.5Vdc / 4.5Amps, the
red LED flashes (drawing F ) and the system will auto-
matically switch off the thermo-electric system of your
cooler. Depending on the battery type and its capacity
to keep charge, the switch off time of the thermo-elec-
tric cooler can occur in minutes or hours.
The thermo-electric system of your cooler will only
start when you restart your car.
4.4.3 • In 230Vac mode, if the power of the mains supply
drops under 230Vac and if you do not use the
230Vac/12Vdc Campingaz® Transformer, the Battery
Control System will not let the cooler start. This is
not a defect. Change to Campingaz® 230Vac/12Vdc
Transformer with Autoswitch system and PowerBox™
thermo-electric cooler will work correctly.
5.ACCESSORIES
Several accessories are available for the PowerBox™ thermo-
electric cooler: (please refer to G)

6. MAINTENANCE AND CARE

6.1 - General Comments
When cleaning the cooling box please refrain from using
a harsh cleaning agent or solvent. The best way to clean
the box is with a damp cloth, possibly also using some
washing up liquid. If the box is not going to be used for
a lengthy period it should be dried beforehand. It is also
important to provide good ventilation, in order to avoid
mould. It is recommended to leave the lid open
when the appliance is not used for a long period.
You can use the PowerBox™ thermo-electric cooler running
for a few days, but this is necessary regularly to unplug it in
order to defrost it and to empty the condensation water,
if necessary.
