5. INITIAL OPERATION

Before plugging in, check that the rated mains voltage and mains frequency, as stated on the rating label, match
with your power supply.

Always work with the additional handle attached.

6. USE OF THE MACHINE

6.1 On/Off switch, continuous activation
Always guide the machine with both hands.
The machine must not be allowed to draw in additional dust and shavings. When switching the machine on and
off, keep it away from dust deposits. After switching off the machine, only place it down when the motor has
come to a standstill.
During continuous operation the power tool may be forced out of the operator's hands. Therefore always hold the device
with both hands using the handles, stand in a safe position and be focused on the job.
Switching on/Continuous activation: Push sliding switch (1) forward for continuous activation; now till down-
wards until it engages.
Switching off: Press the rear end of the slide switch (1) and release.
6.2 Setting belt speed 6043 MSW-POL900L
The belt speed can be pre-set via the setting wheel (2).
Positions 1-6 correspond approximately to the following belt speeds

The thumbwheel sets the maximum speed, while the trigger turns the machine on and off. With switch in the locked ON
position the thumbwheel may be used to adjust the speed. This machine incorporates feedback speed stabilization so that
the speed will not slow with load, it will maintain the pre-set speed regardless of the load. Always start at a lower speed
and work up to the best speed.
6.4 Sanding belt replacement 6043 MSW-POL900L
Release the tensioner arm (4) and remove the sanding belt (5).
Place the new sanding bell on the rollers such that its direction of circulation (arrows on the inside of the sanding
belt) matches the arrow (6) on the protective cover.
Release the tensioner arm (4).
Ensure that the sanding bell is completely on the rollers.

Caution: Disconnect tool from power source.

6.6 Attaching and changing the grinding disk 6048 MSW-FIL900S
Pull out the mains plug, the switch must be off.
The mounting flange put on the drive shaft with leading side face up. Grinding (polishing) disc put on the mounting flange
and set concentrically with the flange. Screw the nut onto the output shaft and tighten by countering the grinding (poli-
shing) disc.
6.7 Sanding procedure 6043 MSW-POL900L
When working, please ensure that the machine is operated at right angles to the pipe so that the belt does not fall off the
rollers.
Using the additional handle, the belt can be pressed against the pipe and at the same time placed around it. The angle of
contact and the sanding output may be changed by the contact pressure.
6.8 Sanding procedure 6044 MSW-POL900S
Hold the machine firmly by the front and rear handles, making sure the belt is clear of foreign objects.
Start the machine and lower it to the work.
Move the machine along the tube in strokes. Do not hold too long in one spot. Doing so may overheat the surface
and cause uneven results.
Always be sure motor has stopped before setting the machine down.
When using the machine to apply products (compounds, polishes, waxes, cleaners, etc). Always read and follow the
manufacturer's directions supplied with product.
7. CLEANING, MAINTENANCE
Motor cleaning: Blow compressed air through the rear ventilation slots of the machine regularly, frequently and thoroughly.
