3.1 Operating Concept

Getting Started
Modulator cable connections checklist:

AC power
●
Downstream RF output connected to test equipment (e.g., spectrum analyser,
receiver, video analyser).
●
Control LAN connector connected to computer or network
●
Optional: SFP+, 10 MHz
When the unit is powered ON, default configuration is one Annex B J.83/B carrier at
full composite power, Transmit is OFF. If data is not being input via the SFP+ port, the
unit is stuffing the data stream with null packets. The Ethernet LAN port can be used to
monitor R&S SFD status and re-configure it.
Factory Set IP Address

The factory defaults for the SFD network configuration are:

Once connection can be established with the R&S SFD, network settings can be
changed via the web GUI. Consult your network administrator if you cannot connect to
R&S SFD. The R&S SFD can be operated:

From a PC using Web GUI, SCPI or SNMP.
