Replacing the Sanding Sheet/
Sanding Plate
Before any work on the machine itself, pull the
s
mains plug.
Selecting the Sanding Sheet
Depending on the material to be worked and the de-
sired material removal, various sanding sheet qualities
are to be used:
For the working of all wooden materials.
For the working of paint/enamel coats or primers and
fillers.
For the working of extremely hard materials such as
stone, marble, granite, ceramic or glass.
For the working of polymer materials such as Corian
®
and Variocor
as well as the working of extremely hart
materials such as stone, marble and Fiberglas plas-
tics.
Changing the Sanding Sheet
Lift the sanding sheet 6 at the edge and pull it off the
sanding plate 9. Clean the sanding plate 9, if required.
Press the new sanding sheet 6 against the bottom of
the sanding plate. To ensure optimum dust extraction,
the holes of the sanding sheet must match with those
of the sanding plate.
Selection of the Sanding Plate
Depending on the application, the machine can be
equipped with sanding plates of different hardness
(see Application Table):
Extra soft sanding plate (III): Suitable for polishing
and sensitive sanding (also for curved surfaces).
Soft sanding plate (II): Suitable for universal usage
on flat surfaces.
Hard sanding plate (I): Suitable for high sanding
performance on flat surfaces.
Changing the Sanding Plate
To replace the sanding plate 9, pull off the sanding
sheet or polishing tool. With the Allen key 7, loosen
and remove the screw 8.
When placing on the sanding plate, take care
that the teeth of the drive piece engage in the re-
cesses of the sanding plate.
Hold the sanding plate and firmly tighten the screw 8
with the Allen key 7 .
Replace damaged sanding plates without delay.

Dust/Chip Vacuuming
Dust produced while working can be detrimental to
s
health, inflammable or explosive. Suitable protec-
tion measures are required.
Examples: Some dusts are considered to be carci-
nogenic. Use suitable dust/chip extraction and
wear a dust protection mask.
Light metal dust can burn or explode. Always keep
s
the work place clean since material mixtures are
especially dangerous.
Caution, fire hazard!
Sanding dust in the filter sack or filter of
the vacuum cleaner can ignite under un-
favourable conditions such as from flying
sparks when sanding metal. It can also
self-ignite, especially when mixed with
remainders of varnish, polyurethane or
other chemical materials and when the
sanded work piece is hot after long peri-
ods of working.
Avoid overheating the object being sand-
ed as well as the machine and always
®
empty the dust container before pauses
in the work.
External Dust Extraction with a Vacuum
Cleaner
(Accessory pages)
Connect a vacuuming hose (accessory) directly to the
vacuuming adapter 4 .
The vacuum cleaner must be suitable for the material
to be worked.
When vacuuming dry dust that is especially detrimen-
tal to health or carcinogenic, use a special vacuum
cleaner.
English–2
The vacuuming adapter 4 is made of
antistatic material. With the additional
use of an antistatic vacuuming hose
(accessory), the electrostatic charging
of the machine, which can occur while
sanding in rare cases, is prevented.
