BEFORE OPERATION

GROUNDING THE GENERATOR
1
PROPIEDAD EVANS.COM.MX PROPIEDAD EVANS.COM.MX PROPIE
The National Electric Code requires that this product
be properly connected to appropriate earth ground to
help prevention of electric shock. A ground terminal
connected to the frame of the generator has been

provided for this purpose. Connect a heavy gauge (12
AWG min.) bare copper cable between the ground lug
attached to the generator frame (identified with a label
PROPIEDAD EVANS.COM.MX PROPIEDAD EVANS.COM.MX PROPIE
with the ground symbol- see figure below) and a cooper
rod drawn 1 meter into the ground which should provide
a suitable ground connection. However, consult with
a local electrician to insure that local codes are being

adhered to.

LUBRICATION
EVANS.COM.MX PROPIEDAD EVANS.COM.MX PROPIEDAD EVANS.
DO NOT attempt to start the engine without filling the
engine crankcase with the proper amount and type of
oil. Use SAE 10W-30 oil.
PROPIEDAD EVANS.COM.MX PROPIEDAD EVANS.COM.MX PROPIE
Your generator has been shipped from the factory
without oil in the engine crankcase. Operating the unit
without oil may damage the engine and will be cause of
warranty loss.
EVANS.COM.MX PROPIEDAD EVANS.COM.MX PROPIEDAD EVANS.
Fill the engine according to the engine manual. In this
engine the plastic plug of the engine crankcase is the oil
fill and check plug.Fill with oil and check the level using

the marks in the dipstick.
3
LOW OIL SENSOR
The engine is equipped with an oil sensor. If the oil level
becomes lower than required, the sensor will activate

a warning device and stop the engine (see the
accompanying engine manual for more information).
If the generator turns off and the oil level is within
PROPIEDAD EVANS.COM.MX PROPIEDAD EVANS.COM.MX PROPIE
specifications, check that the generator is not placed at
an angle that forces the oil level to change. Place the
generator on an even surface to correct this problem.
If the engine does not start, the oil level could not be
EVANS.COM.MX PROPIEDAD EVANS.COM.MX PROPIEDAD EVANS.
enough to shut off the automatic "low oil" switch. Make
sure the dipstick indicates the correct level.

WARNING
FUEL
4
Fill the tank with unleaded fuel, clean and new. You can
use regular-grade fuel as long as it has a high octane
value (at least 85 octane). Always use a fuel additive.
A fuel additive will minimize the development of fuel
gum deposits during storage. The fuel additive can be
added to the fuel into the gas tank or put together to the
fuel in a storage container. The fuel and engine smoke
are flammable and potentially explosive. Use a suitable
procedure to store and handle fuel. Always have an ABC
fire extinguisher nearby.
Fuel tank Valve
CAUTION
Do not overfill the tank. Keep maximum
fuel level ¼ inch below the top of the tank.
This will allow fuel expansion during warm
weather, and so, avoid spillage.
ELECTRIC EXTENSIONS OR CORDS
1
All generator loads will be connected from the control
panel with extensions or cords with 3-prong grounded
plug for connection to120 volts outlet and 4-prong
grounded plug for connection to 120/240 volts outlets.
2
See Table 3 for selection of the minimum cable gauge
of extensions or cords in agreement with the loads
requirements.
3
When the load increases a cable extension of greater
size must be used. Using extensions of inadequate size
can result in serious problems with the voltage, reducing
the electric energy applied to the tools and causing
damage on them.
4
As far as smaller is the number of the wire gauge ,greater
is the conduction ampacity, for example, a gauge 14
wire can carry a current higher than that a gauge 16
wire can.
5
When several extensions are connected it is a must to
review that each extension is of the minimum gauge
required.
