should be arranged. The "drip-loop" is that part of the cord
below the level of the socket or the connector if an extension
cord is used, to prevent water from traveling along the cord and
coming into contact with the socket. If the plug or socket does
get wet, DO NOT unplug the cord. Disconnect the fuse or circuit
breaker that supplies power to the appliance. Then unplug and
examine for the presence of water in the socket.
3. To reduce the risk of injury, close supervision is necessary when
any appliance is used by or near children.
4. Always unplug an appliance from a socket when not in use,
before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning. Never
yank cord to pull the plug from the socket. Grasp the plug and
pull to disconnect.
5. Do not use an appliance for other than its intended use (i.e. do
not use in swimming pools, garden ponds, bathrooms or any
situations where people are immersed). The use of attachments
not recommended or sold by the manufacturer of the appliance
may cause an unsafe condition.
6. Do not install or store the appliance where it will be exposed to
the weather or to temperatures below freezing.
7. Make sure an appliance is securely installed before operating it.
8. Read and observe all the important notices on the appliance.
9. WARNING – For North American market only. This appliance has
a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). As a safety
feature, this plug will fit in a polarized socket only one way. If
the plug does not fit fully in the socket, reverse the plug. If it still
does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Never use with an
extension cord unless plug can be fully inserted. Do not attempt
to defeat this safety feature.
10. If an extension cord is necessary, a cord with proper rating
4
should be used. A cord rated for less amperes or watts than the
appliance rating may overheat. Care should be taken to arrange
the cord so that it will not be tripped or pulled.
11. The filter must be immersed in water. The filter must not run dry.

Only the faithful observation of these installation, electrical and
maintenance guidelines will ensure the safe and efficient use of
this appliance.
The Exo Terra Repti Clear F250 and Repti Clear F350
Terrarium Filter is for indoor, household use only. This filter is not
recommended or designed to transport corrosive or flammable
compounds or liquids with different properties than water. The motor
is hermetically sealed to ensure safety and a long lasting life with all
live electrical parts immersed in a protective casing to prevent total
insulation against water damage and electrical shock. Since it does
not employ older technologies requiring oil cooling, it can never leak
or contaminate the area with coolant.
Installation:
The filter can be installed either vertically or horizontally depending
upon the preferred usage application (example: in terrariums,
because of low water levels, the filter would be placed horizontally
or flat on the bottom; in aqua-terrariums, because of higher water
levels, the filter could be placed horizontally or vertically). If in doubt,
consult with your local Exo Terra dealer or pet retailer for more
information.
