Set-up

The battery charger is factory set for a charging current of 15
Amp maximum and an IU-float charge characteristic. This is the
most effective charge characteristic and complete safe for all
sorts of open and sealed batteries.
Do not change the settings without a good reason.
Changing the setting is done by means of DIP-switches and trim
potmeters. Remove the side panel on the left side. The DIP-
switches and potmeters are located directly behind this panel.
Charge voltage
With the DIP-switches Q1 and Q2 it is possible to increase the
charge voltage in steps of 0.6 Volt.
Compensation for the voltage drop caused by a battery isolator
is possible. Then the battery charger must be re-adjusted to
14.8 Volt. Also voltage drop across cables can be compensat-
ed in the same way.
Possible combinations for the DIP-switches are:

Individual fine adjustment of the maximum charge voltage
(boost voltage) is possible with trim potmeter P2.
During fine adjustment of the maximum charge voltage DIP-
switch Q4 must be in positon 'ON' (as for permanent boost) and
the battery connections must be released. Connect a load to
the output of the battery charger, e.g. a incandescent bulb of 12
Volt - 10 Watt, before making the adjustment! Don't forget to set
DIP-switch Q4 in position 'OFF' after re-adjusting.
The float voltage can be re-adjusted individual with trim pot-
meter P3.
During fine adjustment of the float voltage DIP-switch Q4 must
be position 'OFF' and the battery connections must be

released. Connect a load to the output of the battery charger,
e.g. a incandescent bulb of 12 Volt - 10 Watt, before making the
adjustment!
Charge charactaristic
The charge characteristic of the battery charger can be
changed into PERMANENT BOOST (IU1) by setting Q4 in posi-
tion 'ON' or in PERMANENT FLOAT (IU2) by decreasing the
maximum charge voltage (boost voltage) with P2 to the same
voltage as the float
voltage.
PERMANENT BOOST can be usefull, in those cases where a
battery initially doesn't accept a charge current, to get the
charging process started up (see also under 'Faulst'). PERMA-
NENT BOOST can be usefull too in cases where a battery is
intensively used on
a daily basis, as the FLOAT function is intended for a battery
which is not being used for a longer period of time.
PERMANENT FLOAT is seldom usefull, but can be used to keep
the voltage under all cicumstances below 14 Volt.
If the battery charger is switched on for a long period of time
while the battery is not being used (For instance during winter
lay-up) the FLOAT-phase will prevent a over consumption of
water. Therefore the battery charger can be used with the set-
ting as
for standard operation and it will go to the float-phase automat-
ically.
Protection
The charger is protected in a variety of ways, thus ensuring reli-
able operation.
Short Circuit
If the 220 Volt input is short circuited then the glass fuse in the
boat mains connection will blow.
Remove the side panel on the right side to reach the fuse.
Overload/Overheating
As a basic principle, the inverter cannot be overloaded, as it lim-
its the maximum charge current itself. However, if the ambient
temperature is too high, this can lead to overheating and the
overheat prevention device will operate. The 'TEMPERATURE'
LED lights up.
When it has cooled down, the equipment automatically turns
itself on again.
Battery Terminal Reversal Protection.
If you reverse the positive and negative terminals of the battery,
the battery charger will not operate and the fuse will be blown.
